    7-40 turning off

The TV turns itself off 5.30 pm / 6.30  and 7.40

I have checked that the timer is off.  Can this have to do with a hidden timer somewhere in the menu system?

    Thanks

Do you have anything linked to it which can do a system standby?

Had the same problem on my 7-40 mk3 , turned itself of every night at 6.02 . Dealer couldn't find any fault so changed the set and that switched itself off at 6.02 every night . Turned out to be a BM7000 and BeoLink7000 in the next room doing it . One of the recent 7-40 software updates mentioned a fix for this problem ( can't remember the number ) , my set was updated , put the 7000 back and hasn't done it since .

I have the same problem ! And I thought I was alone...

Mine turns itself off randomly but always at the bottom of the hour, ie 13:30 or 19:30.

It only happens when I watch satellite TV (I live in France). Never when I watch a DVD. So it must be related to the satellite box... but I changed the satellite box a couple months ago for the latest model, and I still have the problem -- less often though.

It's been going on for more than a year and nobody has a clue. A B&O technician came over to my house but couldn't find anything wrong.

Can you email me your name ? I'm going to write a letter to B&O describing the problem, if I can mention that somebody else has the same issue, maybe they'll take it seriously.

    Thanks.

    Re: 7-40 turning off

It`s a known issue with BV7 and 2 way audio systems. My dealer asked me, whether I have problems with my systems, because he knows that I have a BS7000 and a BC9500 too. But both audios are located in link rooms and not connected to my BV7. I never experienced these turning offs....

So maybe it`s worth to disconnect the audiosystem from the mains to check whether the turning offs continue.

Yes I have an audio system (Beosound 4000 / Ouverture) linked to the BV7 in the same room. I did check that there was no stand-by timer program on the audio system --- it's clear.

    Is there a fix ?

    thanks.

    Re: 7-40 turning off

Ouverture is not a 2 way system, so must be another problem....? Anyway try to disconnect audio system from the mains and check if the problem continues. Afaik Beo is working on the BV7 - 2 way problem.

I'll test with the audio system disconnected. Thanks.

One more thing : the strange thing is when the BV7 turns itself off, it does it very abruptly : without the electronic curtain, a bit like if I unplugged the tv from the mains.

Maybe it's a sign that the problem lies with the power supply ? I should have also mentioned that 1 month after purchasing the BV7 the power supply module had to be replaced (the TV kept on turning itself off, and one day it wouldn't come back to life --- the thing was dead).

    Re: 7-40 turning off

So it`s not turning to  Stdby but more like shutting down. I assume the stand doesn´t turn to stdby position. I remember that there was a sw problem in the past. Did the Beo technician check SW and error codes? You will find SW and error codes in sevice menu.

    Press MENU - 0 - 0 - GO - MONTOR - GO - MONITOR INFORMATION - voila.

...remember to press exit when you are done..Smile

And dont change ANYTHING in the service menu. If you do; a technician probably has to come by and correct it.

    Re: 7-40 turning off

As a lot of people know on here, my BV7-40 MKIII and now the MKIV both crash when using a Sky HD box connected to the BV7-40 and BV8, at the same time. It's never gone away! The BV7-40 MKIV crashes and eventually turns off - it's not the Sky box, either, as you can continue to control and use the box, through the BV7, connected to the BV8!

It only crashes when watching Sky. DTV, DVD and other sources are fine.

According to my dealer it is a known issue and other people are affected. Been waiting for a sw fix for weeks now.

Sorry, I don`t know much about the error codes, but your dealer should be able to read it via Beo`s Intranet.

And thanks to BMGHB for the advice I forgot: Don`t mess around in the service menu....

The BO technician just updated the software of my BV7-40 MK3 to the latest version. We'll see if it helps -- it'll take a few days/weeks to figure it out.
