    BV7 Slingbox Project

Just got my slingbox from the UK. Anyone have an idea on how to connect this?

I have a BV7 with a V8000, Pace + (Foxtel IQ), Strong 5400 and a few other items connected to it (Denon DVD, IPod, etc).

    Thanks Beoaus.

    Re: BV7 Slingbox Project

The UK one has integrated DTT - which is rather irrelevent to OZ as the UK use DVB-T but in multiplex mode while OZ's DVB-T is HD (If I remember correctly). The Slingbox connects to the IQ box - not the BV7 and there is a small IR wand that connects to the front of the box. You may find that as the IQ box is similar to the Sky+ box in the UK, it may use the same remote codes. Good luck with that.

The SB then connects into your network and then the easiest thing is to connect up a laptop (with the SB software installed) to your home network and see if you can control and stream from the SB. Then you can worry about getting the stream outside of your home network...

    Re: BV7 Slingbox Project

    Thanks...

Ok I have the box connected to the RF cable and guess what? The Tuner picked up my RF link frequency. So the changing of the chanel via the Beo4 changed the channel on my PC. Got me thinking on that one...

Reverted back to free to air for now and got the Slingbox working remotely.  Very neat system I must say.  I'll try the Foxtel box tomorrow evening.

    Re: BV7 Slingbox Project

    An update.

The Slingbox works perfectly with FoxtelIQ (Pace +) and free to air.  The problem is my FoxtelIQ (Pace+) in link rooms does not work.

To describe: The Slingbox comes with a Scart Male/Female adapter that also has the Red, White and Yellow RCA cables attached. So simply you disconnect the Scart cable from the PACE box, put this scart adapter in and re-connect the original Scart to the adapter. The RCA leads then send the Signals to the Slingbox.  This connection has no effect to the BV7 (locally) though when the PACE signal gets passed to link systems (running RF) the problems start.  The signal drops out, is wavy and very dark. Anyone experienced this problem.

Simply put the Scart adapter from Slingbox site between the PACE box and the BV7. Placeing it here effects link room quality but not the BV7 connection which seems strange.

Anyone know what I am talking about?

    Beoaus.

    Re: BV7 Slingbox Project

I feel pretty stupid replying to my own messages.  I'll go ahead anyway.

I found the problem with the Slingbox Scart and Foxtel(Pace). The Scart connector supplied by SlingBox has internal wires that break out into RCA, Left, Right and Video. When the RCA connectors are connected to the SlingBox the voltage drawn unbalances the signal through the Scart, not effecting the BV7 but as a link connection it makes a difference. Simple fix was to use RCA outputs on the Pace box rather than the Scart.

I am sitting in a link room watching and listening to all sources connected to the BV7. I use the Beo4 to change sources and channels via a passive. If I can get Slingbox to assist on that front (Beo4 signals) all my B&O sources will be available on the internet anywhere in the world just the same as rooms in my house. Only the sources connected to the Slingbox are available via the internet now.

This could be the way of the future.

     Beoaus.

You're trailblazing, Beoaus! Been thinking of setting up something similar, having you do the prototyping is certainly saving me time and effort!
