Beolab 8000 - The icon among loudspeakers..!

    Hi

Im happy to say that I recently bought a new set of Beolab 8000's, a new Beosound 4 & a new Beo4.

Last night I unpacked every packages & then I spend a little time (a lot of time) to install it.

When the installation finally come's to an end it was time for some listening!

I didnt crank the volume up, just to 60 on the volume scale - but wow!! I played Dire Straits - best of & John Lindberg trio.

The sound image was very big (the 8000's sound at home is magnificient - 1000 times better then in the store)

and the details are sharp, even though the speakers are not played in.

It hit me early, that the people who said "Lack of bass" about Beolab 8000 - certainly havent listen to them!

I was suprised/amazed when the bass from "money for nothing" & Brand new philosophy " streamed out from the thin pillars.

The sound settings is bass -1 & treble +1 & offcourse loudness off. (14/11-9, the sound settings is now Bass -3 & treble +1 loudness off).

Before I bought the system I have a idea of acquiring me the BeoLab 2, but not anymore!

And the Beosound 4 is so beautiful and easy to use (my girlfriend's demands were just BeoSound 4, she let me choose the speakers).

    Regards

    Mathias

Bass is fine in 8000s - however I find Pentas better balanced and my M100s and MS150s give far more detail in the bass - but it is all relative! A Beolab 2 would be great as a Low Frequency Effect channel in a surround sound set up, but is not necessary for music.

Nowadays I'm calmed down musically and with 2 kids (and SHMBO) in the house my BL8000 live an ordinary life dreaming of the parties in the past.

But some weeks ago I rediscovered my Ministry CDs and played "Jesus built my hot rod" on HIGH level. (Yes, I was home alone). And damn, what the speakers sounds good! Smile

Yes, the Beolab 2 will deliver the lower frequences - but, Beolab 2 isnt made

for hifi. However the new Beolab sub is. Is it anyone in this forum who have a

pic of the new sub? I were told by a retailer that the new sub has a little odd design, almost like a vase. It could also be wall mounted.

Will go through the same period with a 2 yr old daughter (the boy is already 10) cause I ordered my BL8000 together with new BV10. My wife loves the design! Soundwise they're not bad at all.

Speaking of the devil. SHMBO had a high glass vase. Last weekend our son managed to tilt it. It felt like a tower and hit one of the BL8000. The 8000 won the battle, but the vase didn't surrender without a fight.

    Re: Beolab 8000

He was fine. He actually didn´t touch the vase. He had placed a mattress on the floor next to the vase, ran across the floor and jumped with a nice landing on the mattress making the mattress pushing the vase.

Of course it was better the vase hit the BL than my son.

Luckily he didn't get tinnitus either, despite my screaming when I saw the vase starting to fell. There was a lot of water in it but it seems it stayed outside the speaker.

@Daniel: Ministry! ... Good to hear that there is other stuff playing on some B&O equipments than the usual classic :-)

Go and check "Who was in my room tonight" from the allmighty Butthole Surfers (sorry, thats the bands name :-) ) , if you like that sound...

Btw. its the same singer as in "Jesus build my hotrod"

    Rock on!

    Question:

My Beo4 remote does not turn off itself, CD is allways shown in the display! Should it be so..?

    /Mathias

    Answer:

I talked to my local B&O dealer, and the Beo4 is allways ready - the display does never turn off.
