    Beomedia 1, red dot

    Hi all,

-I have some problems with my Beomedia 1, it is connected to a BV7-32, and it have been working excellent since 2005. However, I moved my setup and reconnected my Beomedia 1 and the BV7-32. Now when i press PC on beo4, the menu appears (Music, radio, photo, web) but nothing else happens, its like totally frozen and the red dot appears in the lower right corner (standby). I have tried all sorts of resets, on beomedia 1, unplugged the BV7 etc, but it still is the same. I can access Beomedia 1 from a laptop, so the network seems fine. The difference from my earlier setup is that I previously had BL3 and a settop box connected (I bought a BV8-40 which now is connected to beomaster/sound 5, BL3 and use the settop box). Now it is only the BV7-32, the BV7-1 and Beomedia 1.

I have the Beomedia1 on the AV4 connection, if that matters, I tried AV1 before.

I would really appreciate any hints, or suggestions on how to get passed the "red dot".. (I have tried to get to the system menu (<red><9><0><0> etc.., but nothing happens..)

    /Jonas

    Hi Jonas,

(I have already seen that red point, and I do not know its purpose. What do you mean by standby ? No source playing ? I have just switched to the navigator - I am writing on my BM1 -, no source is playing and I do hot have the red point at the time. Anyway... not the subject of your post Smile)

Maybe the ML is broken between BV7 and BM1, then commands from the Beo 4 do not work. Have you tried connecting a keyboard ? Does the BM1 react to the ^ and v, R, or "0 0 ENTER" keys ? If not, try Ctrl-alt-del to make sure the system is not totally frozen.

    Re: Beomedia 1, red dot

    thanks for the swift reply!

It seems the ML is broken, I unplugged the ML between the BV7 and the BM1 and it looks the same, so I need to find a new ML cable ;-)

The BM1 is alive, which I can see since I can connect to it via the wireless network.

The red dot is what I mean with standby.

    best regards/Jonas

    You are welcome Smile

All right, this is a ML problem, hopefully this will be only the cable.

The network test is not always sufficient as some low-level services can still be alive (as the Server service that responds to your network commands), when applications running at user level - as the B&O Navigator - are no more responding (because i.e. CPU or memory overload, etc). That's why I have suggested to plug a keyboard in and hit ctrl-alt-suppr, this is a better option to check the health of the operating system and provides some ways to take action when things go wrong.

    Enjoy your Beomedia !

    Best regards
