Do so at your own risk!

The AppleRemote profile in the PUC will still run it fine, but it's a pain in the ass to work. You have to put media on it with an FTP loader and since there's no syncing operation (the media's either there or it's not, it can't stream from a Mac if the AppleTV runs out of room) you have to attache a HD to the AppleTV which most of the clients (like Boxee or XBMC) don't consistently read and if they do the media has to be kept in a rigid format like the.west.wing.s03.e14.avi which is hard to read unless a program is interpreting it into its own GUI.

    I'd say skip it.

And every AppleTV software update breaks it.

    Thanks for your reply!

Have you tried Apple TV with Beo 4?

It's is ok for me to access Apple TV with FTP, i don't need to stream from a NAS.

I need a box with following feauters:

    Play music (mp3, Flac)
Play movies (ISO DVD and Blue-ray)
    Stream Netradio
    Browse the internet
    Se pictures (JPG)
    HDMI out

as I can see the Apple TV with ATFLASH fulfil all that.

I have also consideret Vico TViX HD M-6500A  but it can't  stream netradio and browse the internet.

I'm not sure you've thought through your list of requirements versus the capabilities of the AppleTV w/ ATFlash.

You say you don't need to stream from NAS, but you also want to watch movies. Even the largest AppleTV hard drive would fill up quickly. I have about 20 movies and a few seasons of TV shows and I'm over 200GB. Far more than the internal capacity of the AppleTV.

If you think you'll just transfer movies when you want to watch them, remember that it takes longer to transfer a movie than to watch it. This method doesn't work well.

I also can't recall there being an IP radio engine, though I could be wrong.

I'm personally of the opinion that the Mac Mini makes the best STB and can be had for only a little more than the AppleTV and Tvix.
