    Penta Mid-Range speaker replacement

I have a pair of Penta MK2’s that have the all too common mid-range speaker rot.

I was going to attempt to refoam them, having purchased new foam rings from a site in Holland that specialises in foam rings. Unfortunately I got ripped off by them so have no foam rings.

So, my next option is to replace the drivers. I see that someone has replaced with Visaton with good results. But these are 8 instead of 4 Ohm speakers so would that not alter the sound characteristics?

I’d be interested in others opinion or experiences/ recommendations on replacing the mid-range drivers.

Can you tell us a bit more about the "ripped off" issue from this site in Holland!

Would be most interesting where or where not to buy these foam rings since it looks like the Dutch are the only ones who are selling these foam rings.

The site in question is the only one that I'm aware of that sell the Penta mid-range rings (they also sell them on ebay). I purchased direct from their web site, not eBay. Never received the rings nor did I get any responce to the multiple emails asking where the goods were.

    Re: Penta Mid-Range speaker replacement

    Hi,

I replaced all my mid range speakers last year, bought all of them at my local B&O Store, they had them in stock in denmark. Didn't cost a fortune. Works great, and you know it's the real deal. I would ask my local dealer if they're still available.

I have not bought any lately but I would bet that they are still available along with most other Penta parts.

The full set will cost around £200 from your B&O dealer and your Pentas will be as good as new.

    Regards Graham
