Very cool although I can see the installations getting messy very quickly if not handled extremely well.  Would a BS3 based system still be handled locally?  Also I wasn't sure what they were implying about the use of subwoofers.

I have to say that when we first started discussing the Cat7 installation standard I was fairly impressed. It sounded as though it would significantly reduce pre-wire costs, increase flexibility, and make it easier for non-B&O technicians to contract out pre-wires (let alone Do-It-Yourselfers).

After seeing the documentation I was left scratching my head. Systems like Kaleidescape make it so easy to network with gigabit switches & Cat5 cables so it confused me as to why we would make the infrastructure (from the looks of it) even more complex than ML!

When you think of it, however, it's not an actual ethernet standard as we're still communicating to the same ports & boards in the same language, just using different cables. My guess is that when the next gen launches in earnest we'll see some simplification while existing Cat7 infrastructures will work just fine. It's also probably not as complicated as the documentation makes it out to be.

Interesting concept, but from my point of view just the old ML with new Cat7 wires and a centralized junctio box. Nothing very exciting.....so it is still analog and not digital and no video ditribution.

This can only be the "warm up" for a real full digital based system (like Kalaidescape or other systems like Sonos).

Trip, I think this looks so complicated as all Powerlink cables run through a central hub as well. For the current analog system no need to do that. But there might be a reason....who knows.
