    Forum time incorrect?

Since the DST ended, the forum has displayed every time stamp one hour ahead for me.

Yes, I have my personal time zone set correctly (currently GMT+2:00 for Finland) in the profile, and tried logoff-login Smile

Yes, same in UK. The forum is still on DST and has not reverted to GMT as it should have done last Sunday.

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure. [W C Fields]

    Re: Forum time incorrect?

The reason for the 1 hour difference is because this forum runs on a server on the east coast of the US and we changed our clocks last weekend and the US change their clocks next weekend and I had fogotten this week difference.

However the clock setting for the prize draw countdown is correct because the Beoworld web site runs on a different server in the UK.

On the time stamp of this posting the clock will be changed until next Sunday morning when I will change it again.

    Regards Keith....

OK, that makes sense and it wasn't a real problem anyway - at least we know that the Wednesday© thread starts in 22 minutes! Smile

    Re: Forum time incorrect?

Well - i'm notorious for messing up settings, so in response to this i've been and altered the forum clock to GMT time thinking i've done the right thing.  Van will probably catch the bus down to the BeoWorld offices and hit me with his BeoWorld mug and Keith Saunders will more than likely jump on his keyboard and post me the remains...

    Let's see what happens.. Whistle

I don't think that was an improvement, Lee Smile

Apparently the forum software shares the problem with many other forum platforms - they have this stupid notion of "forum time" which doesn't make any sense in a global environment. The only solution that works is to keep everything in UTC internally so you never have to care about time zones nor DSTs, and while presenting the dates to the user, convert to his local time according to personal settings...

    Hmm

Actually, i've no idea - but it looks like a good suggestion. Laughing

Keith is changing it now, then will pack up his smashed keyboard.
