    masterlink/datalink

    ls

    i am the owner of a house with a masterlink system.  in one room though there is 8-pin socket.  is this a datalink outlet? is there a way to connect to a beovisio mx 4002 with masterlink connection?

    Masterlink is a long, flat, rectangle socket, while Datalink is DIN.

    I do not know how many pin has a Datalink socket.

    Powerlink (for the speakers) is also DIN, it has eight pins.

    That sounds like a Powerlink socket. Datalink is a 7 pin cable. You can sometimes use a powerlink cable as a Datalink one though... Cut the central pin. It does depend on what sort of powerlink cable it is though - there are a variety and not all are fully wired.

    Are you sure that the house is wired for MasterLink, not Master Control Link?  A single 8-pin DIN socket just might be the original MCL for a BeoLab 3500/LCS-9000.

    If, we're sure that it's all ML, then that is definitely a PL socket, the question becomes 'Why?"
