What Beovision to chose ?
Hi,
I am the current happy owner of a BV7-40 MK. I, which although old in technology still have a fantastic design.
Now, I have convinced myself to buy a new TV and currently I struggle with which one to chose ? What is the general opinion, I am currently thinking about the BV10, the BV7-55 and the BV9. Does anyone have some meaningful insights on the differences of these TVs in terms of picture quality ? I know there are far more options for adding equipment on the BV7 and BV9 through the BeoSystem 3 ?
I will use the TV for watching pictures (through BeoMaster 5 and a AppleTV) and for watching movies through an HD Sky decoder as well as movie rental through AppleTV and finally of course for watching normal TV like news etc.
In addition to the TV I have a surround sound set-up with Beolap 8000/6000 and a Beolab 2 as well as the Beosound 5 (well don't actually have it yet, but will buy the Beosound5 very soon ).
Thanks for your useful comments in advance.
Jesper

Re: What Beovision to chose ?
Well, I am in the same boat.
Love BV9 and believe plasma is better. No problems with fast activities (football games etc). But the screen is maybe to small for me, as I having 6 meters from coach to TV wall. Heavy price tag, but so iconic.
Like the design of BV7, very B&O. Am waiting to see it in real life. Maybe clumsy, who knows? Also afraid of problems with picture quality (have been reading to many stories on Beoworld).
Interested in knowing what sizes BV10 in coming in. 40 inch is to small. Like what I've seen on picture. Waiting to see it in real life aswell. No BeoSystem 3, but I can live with that if BV10:
- looks good on my wall - have a nice SD and HD picture and - have a decent price tag
Beovision LX5500, BeoCord V6000, BeoSound 9000, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 3500, BeoLab 2000, BeoVox1, BeoCom 6000, Form1, LightControl 1

Thanks for the reply.
I think the BV7-55 will be huge as its also raised above the ground on the floorstand.
The price tag on the BV10-40 is fair, its launched approx. DKK 48.000 (6.400€), which is significantly under the BV7-55 and the BV9. And I agree that the BV10 looks really nice.

Hi Jesper!
It's got to be the BeoVision 10. I love the BeoVision 8-40 but am NOT impressed with the picture quality of the BV9 and what a crazy amount of money in these really hard times!
My dealer had a BV8-40 next to a BV9 both were playing a Panasnic Blu-ray and to say that the BV8 waa milion times beter than the BV9 is no exageration! Even the dealer agreed and at a quarter of the price. LCD is the way to go not plasma Ive never been impressed with the soft images that plasma produce last decades technology i reckon!

I know what you mean, but I have around the house an Avant, and AV9000 and an LX6000 all of which are obsolete and all of which offer extremely good picture quality. If I watyched a lot of TV, I would certainly consider a BV9 which will continue to have a superb picture for many years!

I agree with Peter. In our modern world of instant obsolescence... think of it as getting something for pennies on the dollar/pound.
I missed an opportunity for a SD BV5 and I kick myself daily!

Re: What Beovision to chose ?
Don't worry about that, it will not affect the quality of your TV.
See it like this, if you get the last made BV9 you will always have the best BV9. And you will not worry about upgraded versions.
Beovision LX5500, BeoCord V6000, BeoSound 9000, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 3500, BeoLab 2000, BeoVox1, BeoCom 6000, Form1, LightControl 1

Re: What Beovision to chose ?
Two points - you can get an HDMI expander and there is a built in DVB-HD tuner which reduces the need for one connection. Also remember this is a wall mounted TV in many cases and you would want as few wires going to it as possible. Steve is working on this I believe!

Trolle:
I am currently thinking about the BV10, the BV7-55 and the BV9.
The only downside of the BV7-55 (apart from the size - it will be bigger than the BV9) is that the 1080P screen - which you don't have on your MKI - will cause a lot of pixelisaton on stadard definition TV. It's just about acceptable on the BV7-40. No idea what this will be like on the BV7-55.
My idea B&O TV would be a BV7-46 or BV10-46. My room would allow a few extra inches, but the 55 is just too big. Even the BV9 would be a struggle to fit in most homes.

Hehe ... Peter is too diplomatic - as usual, but he can't fail to hit the nail right on, of course!

Re: What Beovision to chose ?
Flappo The Grate:
i like the spec of the 7-40 , the 10's two hdmi's are just far too limiting imo
But Flappo, the BV7-40 MKIV ships with two of those 'external' HDMI sockets used by internal devices - the DVB-HD and Blu-ray drive. So, effectively, you're down to two on the BV7-40 MKIV, too.
Also, very limiting and goes against B&O's claim that this is one reason for buying a BV7-40...

Re: What Beovision to chose ?
I would just trade in the screen which I might suspect you get about £1K for a MKIV (with or without BR). Since the stand and speaker is the same, In addition the speaker is better quality than BV10. I did this for when I had MK2 and upgraded to MKIII with BR upgrade free.
Good luck
