Re: Does Beomaster terminal for BM6000 work for BM8000?
Yes, but I seem to remember that some of the commands don't do what you expect!

Re: Does Beomaster terminal for BM6000 work for BM8000?
Having both, but also having never tried... I am going to say... yes.
Off the top of my head... I *think* the only diff between the terminals is button arrangement and at least the addition of the FILTERS button on the 8000T.
Sorry I can't be specific -they are in another locale!

You are too fast! Beat me again!
If it helps...
I will have access to them this weekend and will be happy to test just what the differences are, unless someone beats me to it!

You're safe - my 6000 remote was given away some time ago! Interestingly, the Beomaster 6000 quad remote works the Beomaster 2400, but again, not as expected!

I still have 2 2035 for my 2 BM6000 and 1 for my BM8000.
They both control each other with no problems.

Thanks to you all. I know way back, I told you I wasn't interested in gadgets, but I've changed my mind since then.
I may be getting a working bm 8000 pretty soon, but no beolab terminal, but I may have an opportunity to get a working beomaster terminal for reasonable price.

"I still have 2 2035 for my 2 BM6000 and 1 for my BM8000."
How is the sonic quality of BM6000 relative to BM8000?
I may also have an opportunity to get a non-working bm6000 for very low price, would it be worth having it fixed?

It depends on the speakers you use and the size of the room you have. I recently parted company with my BM6000, but kept the 8000. Nothing would ever make me part with the 8000 as it is a superb amplifier, and I cannot say enough good things about it.
You asked what they sound like: the 6000 in many ways is the easier amp to listen to, and it is very sweet driving mid-sized speakers such as the MC120.2s I was using with it. The 8000 needs a big room and some decent speakers to breathe, and I use mine with Beovox Pentas, though Friedmett also likes the MS150s that would have been used when new. To sum up though, I kept the 8000 because the build quality and power output is superior to the 6000. I had my 6000 next to a Beocord 8004, and I couldn't get away from the fact that the 6000 is just a 4400 fitted into the Beocord casing....
What speakers were you planning on using?

Re: Does Beomaster terminal for BM6000 work for BM8000?
They sound pretty much very close and good. You can't go wrong with either.
Just yesterday I was defending the BM6000 on a Danish hifi forum and I will never get rid of my white edition one.
Back in 1982 they got great reviews and a headline saying: Better than bigbrother Bm8000 which they also reviewed some months before.
If you use the bigger Beovox like S80.2 and S120/Mc?120 or M150 for that matter it sounds neutral, big and wonderfull.
I do use Beovox M150 with the BM8000. I never got around to trying MS150 or any other with it.
A BM6000 is always worth fixing. My white edition had a burned powersupply among other minor things but it still works great thanks to Dillen's carefull service. I do plan to get my palisander version serviced at some point too.
As for BM8000 being bigbrother is not really true. They are are very different on the inside but they don't sound that different at all compared to each other.
Just one thing! Check under the bottom if the BM6000 actually has the remote board installed! There is a plastic lid you can clip out. If you see the print board you can use a terminal 2035 or BM8000 one. Remote were optional for the BM6000 back then. Its factory on the BM8000. I learned the hard way on my white BM6000. Hey the remote does not work! Well it was not installed in the first place.

I have a small room for my music for now, even though I am going to be moving to bigger room in the future.

Well, depending on what would be the biggest bargain. I am not into spending thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars for those "audiophile" grade speakers.
So far I limited my selection to these: Beovox rl 140 with bm8000 in mind, beovox rl 65 or 35 for bm6000 in mind, these would be both for visual/design/nostalgia appeal as well as sound quality, and some of the jamo, and celestion speakers, they both look like incredible bargains compared to those fancy tens of thousands dollars speakers.
I'm also planning to experiment with tube amps made in overseas, or occasional bargain vintage tube amps made in the states. I'm plannint to stick with celestion speakers of modest power level.

Do you remember the publication? I read from beocentral bm 8000 used more sophistated technology such as dual mono, but I don't think that would be relevant in my case, since I cannot afford to play real loud for now.

Thanks for the reminder, I might as well buy both.

Re: Does Beomaster terminal for BM6000 work for BM8000?
Hey,
Just though I would jump in with a question some of you may be able to answer.
One of the things is that i find slightly irksome (and can't believe B&O did) is that you can't select TP2 on the BM 6000 remote. Now currently I have TP1 fed with an Airport Express with wireless and TP2 takes the TV input. So changing between them is not possible with just the remotes obviously....altho I have to confess most often I still have to get up to turn the TV on the wall socket.
So the question is ... can the 8000 terminal select all the inputs on the 6000, including TP2 ? As I know it has T2 on its functions.
I think I know the answer... but its worth a try!
Thanks in advance!
Laurence.

Re: Does Beomaster terminal for BM6000 work for BM8000?
The answer is NO.
TP1 no problem. TP2 nothing!
Yes I do have copy of that 1982 review but its Danish and I dont know about copyright.

Re: Does Beomaster terminal for BM6000 work for BM8000?
UPDATE...
The "white" section of the 6000T works fine. The "P" actually launches P7.
Volume UP and DOWN work fine.
I was unable to test the "blue" section as I currently have nothing attached to the BM8000.
Nothing else did anything, and it did not do anything whacky or unexpected.
A 6000T should work just fine, at least until you get the 8000T.

Hey Friedmett,
Thanks! Thought as much, but you know if you don't ask you'll never know!
