MCL: Link room does not control BS7000

    Hello,
I have a Beosystem 7000 with 2 link rooms (MCL).
This morning I found out, the hard way, that the timer function in my link rooms didn't work anymore.
I can turn on and off the link room but I can't control the BM7000 (adjust volume, change source).
The mute control light doesn't light anymore, it only flashes when I use the remote.
Everything works correct in the main room.
My guess is that the datalink cable is disconnected somewhere.
But before I head up to the attic I would like to see if there can be anything else?
    regards
    Mikael

    Mikael,

If both link rooms have the same problem, then that narrows it down to a possible datalink cable issue or drivers/receivers in the BM7000

When was the last time it worked correctly ? what has changed to your configuration since it last worked ?

    Regards Keith....

    Mikael,

Thinking more about the problem you highlighted, it sounds that you are missing the power on the datalink cable.

I suggest you start by checking the output from the BM7000

    Regards Keith....

If it has been moved recently, check the right and left plugs are in the correct outlets in the back of the Beomaster 7000.

    Thanks for your answers.
Yes, both link rooms have the same problem so if it's the datalink then it must be somewhere up to the first box.
The system has not been changed or moved at all. Last time I know it worked was on friday last week.
I will take a look at the wall connection and boxes up at the attic to see if they are connected correctly.

Always worth a hard reset! Switch everything off - leave for 5 minutes and switch it back on again!!

Re: MCL: Link room does not control BS7000

    Problem solved!
I think it was the shield cable that got in contact with the datalink in the first box.
When I opened the box there were one tiny shield wire very close to the datalink and at least two more spreading from the shield cable.
But I have to admit that I also turned the system off (pulled the plugs) before doing this so it could have been the "hard reset" that solved it, but it's most likely the cables.
    Thanks guys
    Mikael
