It does look incredible yes, however wait til you opperate it.....

Frem text to DTV, approximatly 8 seconds..

The introduce a brand new tv WITH the DVB-HD module, even though they know is does not work as it is supposed to.

Come on B&O, why dont you just buy the DVB-C module from a competing brand, you have done this before and it works.

I hate watching the DVB-C module in a 800$ sony tv work as it is intended and then watch the B&O DBV-HD module dissapoint in absolutly every way possible...

The look of BV 10 however... WOW!!!!!!!!, now just get the freaking thing to work like it should...

    Hi Phil

So it does, but that does not change the fact that it does not work as it should...

At this point we do not know how well the BV10 will operate in DVB-HD...

The race for quality has no finish line- so technically, it's more like a death march.

    Re: BEOVISION 10

Great to see the BV10 on the website!

Just one thing though, how can it be that B&O designs this amazing stuff, but manages to be so amateur when launching it? As if the launch photos were not bad enough (still cannot believe how terrible), the text to describe the BV10 on the B&O website has spelling mistakes!!

That kind of lack of attention to detail really puts me off... Surely I'm not the only one?

"We contructed the loudspeaker section with a custom-made bass port solution in the shape of a trumpet"

Amateur launch, but great looking telly.

Well, I know because i played with it yesterday.....

It annoyes me that the most basic features does not work... DVB-HD in all of B&O´s tv´s DOES not work correctly. And in this situation, they introduce a brand new tv (B&O´s rescue, as they call it) knowing that it does not work. Thats a shame, and in my opinion unheard off!!!

Interesting that the B&O website says that this TV does not have a PINcode 'because the chosen technology does not allow it.'

It would be very difficult for someone to walk off with an Avant (with PINcode) but very easy to walk off with the slim and lightweight BV10!

    Re: BEOVISION 10

There are some great videos on the site as well (sound is in Danish, but text is in English), highly recomendable: https://www.bang-olufsen.com/beovision10

    best regards

PS. Yes, omission of pin code protection is not good enough, now we already has to wait for a Mk 2 version with PIN-protection...

I find it funny* that a TV coming out in the end of 2009 has an analogue tuner built in - digital as an option?!

What is this about? Analogue TV has it's days counted. Here in Finland it's gone already.

    Re: BEOVISION 10

In 11 days, it will be gone in Denmark as well.... (unless you have cable-television from a supplier like Yousee og Stofanet...)

So you have to add the price of the Digital tuner...

Have to agree. Putting in an analogue tuner just when the world has agreed to go digital (and is doing it right now) is a bit crazy. Hopefully you can redesignate the analogue TV button to something more useful. Maybe the digital tuner standards are all different so they just couldn't put in a single digital module from the outset (but surely could have done it for each country. Or, maybe there just isnt space in the case!

It is because they do not have a functioning digital  tuner!!!(DVB-C) Simple as that!!!

In the UK, the DVB-T HD module will be standard. The analogue tuner can be switched off and the TV button reassigned. I think it is reasonably useful to still have the analogue tuner for a while as we still get times where analogue is the only system working! The ability to reassign buttons is however one of the big selling points for me.

The analogue tuner is necessary for Linked Video to function.  Until MasterLink is updated, I would imagine all TVs will ship with analogue tuner functionality.

OK, so have the analogue, but please treat your customers to digital TV at a cost of 6000e... Don't you agree? Why the extra cost? How much will the digital TV module be?

In the UK market, you cannot buy it without the DVB-T module. The price includes it. The extras will be the AR coating and the stand you want. You can also change the colour of the speaker cover.

OK, so that is good, hopefully it would have a T/C DVB module over here in Finland, without any extra cost... AR coating is a must.

Forget about terrestrial HD, though. Everybody and his brother is now selling these "HD capable" DVB-T TVs in Finland, but nobody tells you that once the real broadcasts begin, they will use DVB-T2 modulation due to bandwidth constraints. The TVs may have the MPEG-4 decoder required to decode the broadcasts, but that bitstream won't be coming through the -T tuner! I don't think there are any TVs on the market now that will eventually work without - you guessed it - a HD set top box... I believe UK and many other countries are going to -T2 as well, with some countries skipping DVB-T completely.

-C should be fine for HD though, and usable right now.

    Hello!

Here in Germany the DVB-C/T-Module is an option. So I believe it will work fine, otherwise this option wouldn´t make any sense.

Tomorrow I will contact my dealer to order this great new TV for replacing my AVANT, but only if DVB-C is working as I expect!

I want to insert the smart-card from my cable-providor (Unitymedia) in an Alphacrypt-Module (Mascom) and insert this module into the slot of the BV 10. I did the same a fiew month ago with the new Technisat-TV from my mother-in-law and it works fine! I don´t want to buy an additional set-top-box, this would be a knock-out-criterion for the BV 10!

I have heard this procedure does not work with the BV 8-40, my dealer told me there will be an update to come soon. I can´t believe it will be the same with the brand new BV 10.

Has anybody additional information in this matter?

    Best regards

Yes of course, I forgot to stress that this -T2 issue affects only future HD broadcasts over the air. The existing T/C tuner should be just fine for current SD transmissions, as well as existing HD services on cable.

There will be a more bandwidth-effective HD version even for cable, DVB-C2 - but it's not even fully specified yet, let alone that you could have receivers supporting it.
