    Beosystem 7000

    Hello Everyone,

I'm new to B&O and only have a bit of knowledge about the products (from WWW research).  I was the lucky recipient this weekend of a complete Beosystem 7000 set.  This includes the Beolink 7000 as well.  I did not get speakers so unfortunately I haven't even been able to hear it in action yet.  I ordered a pair of the speaker converter ends off of ebay so hopefully I will be rocking it soon.\\

    I have few questions:

Is there a cheap remote option for this system?  The beolink 7000 I have only seems to work half the time the other half of the time it just sort of goes to sleep and does not respond to touching it at all.   I have seen that the Beolink 1000 will control this system but I would really like to get something cheaper.  Does anyone know anything about this 1000 copy?

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bang-Olufsen-Beolink-Remote-Control/dp/B000NDC11K

Also - I would like (obviously) to get the Beolink 7000 going.  I am sure it needs a new battery pack because it doesn't work at all when removed from the charging stand.  Also - any ideas why it sometimes does not respond even when on the station? Could this also be  relating to the old battery pack?
I really wish you could control more on these systems without the remote!

Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can provide.  I am totally stoaked to have this system and want to have it kicking asap (even though I don't have a real good pair or worthy speakers!).

    Regards,
    Jason

    Re: Beosystem 7000

    Welcome to BeoworldSmile

Very nice system (I also have one). Please don't consider one of these so called copies as I promse you that you'll be disappointed with it.

The beolink 7000 is a truly iconic peice of B&O but not the best for every day use. What you want is a Beolink 1000 or a Beo4, you can also use the 2 way Beolink 5000 but these are pricey and nowhere near as robust as the 2 aforementioned remote. My preferrance is the Beolink 1000 as it is easier to use with the system 7000. Both can be found on ebay at reasonable prices.

The battery pack will have now gone in the Beolink 7000 and will definately need replacing if it is the original. B&O may still do this for you but if you feel up to doing the job yourself it isn't too difficult. Look for a 6 X AA cell remote controlled car rechargable battery pack with the same spec's as the one in the remote. I'm fairly certain though that you MUST use NI-CAD cells as the newer NI-MH ones won't work for very long.

    Chris,

    Thanks, Chris!

Any chance you can post a link to the type of battery pack you are talking about?  Plus, I believe that there are only 5 AA's is my Beolink 7000?  Does this sound right?

Another question...I don't have the AM/FM antennas for the Beomaster 7000 either.  Are these fairly easy to find?

    Thanks again for your help.

    Re: Beosystem 7000

    Hi Jason,

You're proably right about it being a 5 battery cell - it's been quite some time since I opened one of these. If that's the case then THIS is the type of battery pack you want. The antennea will be available from B&O, the FM rabbit ear types will be the same as used with the Beosound Ouverture/3200 system and clips into a V shaped notch at the back of the Beomaster, there will probably be an extra bracket part that you don't need. You could also use a cheap ribbon type but will need a double female ended coaxial plug to fit between the antenna & Beomaster.

    Chris.

I too have been having trouble getting a remote to work with my beosystem 7000. I have a beolink 1000 but cant seem to get it to do simple things like power on and off and to raise and lower volume on my system. I'm lucky enough to have the cylindrical speakers to go with the system but cant fully enjoy it because I cant change the volume. Any assistance some knowledgable person can give to get me unstuck will be greatly appreciated.  ron

    Re: Beosystem 7000

    Ron,
Chris stated above that the Beolink 1000 should work with the beosystem 7000.  As I am in the process of trying to find a used one this is worrying.

Chris - Any ideas. Typically the beolink 1000 should at least control the basic functions (volume / source) of the beosystem 7000, right?
I still can't believe that there is not an easier way to control the volume on these things at least.  I understand that is part of the charm but come on it is a hassle for those of us without a working remote!

Anyone know if you can buy the beolink 1000 anywhere other than ebay at reasonable prices?
    Thanks,
    Jason

I assume that this system is new to you? Is the remote itself known good? Might it have been in a linked system prior to your ownership? Have you tried re-optioning it?

There is no question about it. A BL1000 will control a BS7000.

Also... I assume you are in the states.

    If you are interested...

    I have available a BL1000, BL5000, or a Beo4 remote... any of which will control your BS7K.

I have sent you both a PM (top right of the page - click on your inbox) and an email...

    Re: Beosystem 7000

A Beolink 1000 will definitely work with no problems whatsoever.

Ron - check if your remote is working at all. Take a digital camera or a camera phone (with live view) and point it at the transmitter end of the remote when you press buttons. You should see the LEDs flashing pale blue if the remote is working.

If it does, you either have a fault in your Beomaster, or if you just got it and never have seen it working with your remote, it may be programmed to the wrong option (IR receiver off). With the Beomaster in standby, press SOUND - 1 - STORE on the remote. If the standby LED blinks while doing this, there's a good chance you now have a workable combination Smile

Even the oldest Beolinks maintain their value surprisingly well, the going price can easily be around 40-60 dollars / euros / pounds for a nice clean specimen. You can only find bargains if the seller doesn't know what he's selling - or if the deal includes an old television you need to carry away!

And Jason, you have a system that is easily worth $1000 or more in working condition. Don't be cheap on the remote! Those plastic things are horrible!

    Re: Beosystem 7000

Ha!  I meant to post that yesterday.

Beosystem 7000 was trhe top of the range in its day and is still way ahead of many other sound systems.
Controlling it with a plastic remote would be like casting pearls before swine.

    Just a quick note...

Jason and I have hooked up and done some exchanging. It is nice to have someone in my relative vicinity for a change. He seems like a real nice fellow.

At any rate, the BL7000 that was acting up is on my bench.

As of now, and I found this very interesting... the BL is utterly dead, but lights up in vicinity of a 2-way system.

Remarkably, the 2-way (least likely to work) actually seems to be working! EVERYTHING else: Kapoohey!

I have parts on order and will let you know how I get along! My plan is to do a total rebuild on a new thread -Jandyt style.

That'll be a welcome thread - the service manual for BL7000 is mostly useless, and I don't think we've ever had much talk about the insides short of a battery replacement and the fix for the NO CONTACT issue (by Die_Bogener on the German forum I think).

Honestly, it isn't looking promising! Sad

The speed of my projects is not the same as your brilliantly fast shipping! LaughingLaughing

I hope to have some time this weekend to tear the BL7000 down. If all goes well -I will then attempt to assemble a separate photo thread dealing with the revival of the remote.

Once again, I appreciate your help with sourcing this unobtainable piece... my fingers are crossed that all will go well!
