    beoport and Ethernet?

    Hi,

I have the following setup, so far:

iMac which is linked to a routermodem which connects to my LAN. The LAN has a socket also near the BV8 and the BS3200.

Now I want to use a BEOPORT wo have my music from the MAC also on the BS3200. And since I already have an ethernet wiring I want to use this one instead of wiring a new Masterlink (quite difficult). I read something about ML to Ethernet conjunction but did not find a easy description and if I can buy.

Does anyone of you have an idea how the linking has to be connected? Which Equipment do I need?

Thanks a lot for your help,

    Heribert

    You say it.................     "quite difficult"

PS a short cut ........ do the Masterlink wiring.

There has been some threads on using UTP wire as masterlink wire.  It is possible that these were on the old forum, which have been lost...

If I remember well, some of the wires in the masterlinkcable are not used.  If you leave these out, you have enough wires in the UTP cable to do the job.

There are believers and nonbelievers for this.  Some people have done it with good result, others encountered problems.  One thing is sure and that's you need a shielded UTP (STP or FTP).

    Kind regards and good luck

I use an Apple Airport (the small one) to get around this same problem; the minijack output of the airport is connected to my Beosound's AUX.IN

Elsewhere someone warned that the Airport minijack signal strength is too high for Beolabs, but I have not had that problem on my Beosound

Another alternative is wait for the rumour B&O support of cat 7 cables

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

Find the ethernet to masterlink cables here http://eu.bosscom.com/ . I think Lee also provides them. B&O used to sell them, not sure now.

    good luck
