    Good news! Lose the solid blue lines when using Sky on your B&O TV!

    Great news folks! I was playing around with the settings on my BV7-40 (Mark 3) earlier this evening and discovered a new way to 'partially solve' the problem of solid blue lines appearing on some Sky channels.

    You need to have your TV upgraded to the latest software version, at least up to the first update that incorporated the new black menu system and DVD Player logo when loading/unloading DVDs. This update adds a further option to the PICTURE submenu called SIZE. Set it to the highest setting (furthest right) and you will no longer have any blue line visibility. The size option slightly increases the picture size a little each time until eventually on the highest setting the lines are no longer displayed on any channel. Have a play and see how you get on. The best thing about this is that you don't have to compromise with the Sky settings, you can still have 1080p at 16:9. OK, you are in effect resizing the picture and not solving the blue line issue as such, they are still their but just not displayed. Either way its a massive improvement I think.

    I am unsure whether this was a deliberate fix by B&O HQ to help with this issue. If it was, they certainly haven't told the dealers or any of their staff about it as only yesterday I was told quite categorically by my dealer that this is a Sky issue and that I'd have to live with it. Clearly, I do not have to live with it!

    Congrats Simon! While you're there, can you look for the option:

    STOP_BS3_ERRORS = ON

    So that we can stop having more problems :)

    This dose work but it was demonstrated to me on a trip to the B&o factory that it deteriorates the picture . Part of the tour was room with two large screens side by side so you could compare pictures from standard definition thru to fully uncompressed HD , by having two identical pictures and resizing one you could see the difference , some parts of the picture is more obvious like brickwork and becomes slightly blurred.

    I am not sure that deteriorates the picture as such, certinaly not on my screen. The image looks just as good. You can set the size to less than the maximum setting but that only works for some channels. It must be on the highest setting to work with all channels. Personally I am really pleased about this because those lines really did bug me a lot. Especially since we know that TVs from other manufacturers do not have this problem. What do they have that the B&O set doesn't?

    Tim... can't find that option in any of the menus!!

    Need two sets together to see it ( think the ones at B&o were 65” ) , the picture was of a city from an elevated view point , quite obvious differences when side by side after resizing one . He also demonstrated compress and uncompressed HD , quite a difference .

    Oh I see. In that instance I am sure it was quite noticeable. Wish I could have seen it actually. Thanks for the info.

    Of course it does....it stretches the picture slightly. I found that you also lose up to 2cm from the side of regular TV (ie. BBC1), so this isn't a wise choice.

    I've had a play with this setting and can't see any deteroration with the picture quality at all.

    My setting was as far left as it could be as default (I expect installer or factory had it like this).  I now have it second from the right and the screen aspect seems to be fine and the sharpness appears fine.

    Can anyone tell me what to look for to find out if this has made a negative effect?  I'd rather have it as it is and no-more blue vertical lines at the side of the display.
