Will Beocom 2 work on PULSe phoneline??

Dear Users, I need an expert advise. I would like to give a Beocom 2 as a present to a frend of mine in Russia, but they have puls phoneline there. The set was purchased in the Netherlands, but now I am not sure if it will work there or not with a normal PSTN station ( I also have an ISDN in case that will work).

I have tried searching for a solution, but it appears that the Beocom 2 has no option of switching from tone to pulse...

    Any help is appricated!

    Thanks in advance

    Ciao!

    Kirill,

A Very warm welcome to Beoworld..

As you have correctly noted the Beocom 2 uses "Tone Dialing" which will NOT work on a "Stralger" exchange which was originally designed to be used with rotary dial phones. However a rotary phone will work on a modern exchange.

I would be very surprised if your friend is connected to an exchange which supports ISDN if it does not support todays standard  tone dialing.

    Regards Keith....

    Hey Keith!

Thanks for the quick reply! My friend does not have an ISDN yet, I ment to say that I have both B&O stations - PSTN and ISDN, so I dont care which one will work on pulse, as long as one of them does. But I guess non of them will :(( maybe anyone knows where I can buy a tone to pulse converter? I searched the net and could only find converters that work other way around - from pulse to tone.

I also lloked up the the website of the official B&O dealer in Russia and they seem to sell the phone and PSTN base, so there must be a way to switch the phone or base to pulse, right??

Again, any help is greatly appriciated!

    Ciao!

    Kirill

    Pulse dialing! I am surprised!
Beostore Russia sell Beocom 2 phones.
Perhaps some areas are more advanced than others, after all Russia is a big place.

I can confirm that Russia does have modern phone exchanges using tone dialing in the major cities, however move away from these major centres and the telecoms network is still in the 50's & 60's

    Dear Users,

Anyways, I need to get it working on the good old puls :)

Any ideas on how to solve this?
