Laptop to my TV- or why is this so difficult, aargh

HI guys, looking for some help.

Have the beovision 7 but cant seem to get my laptop working on it, if browsed through many sites and cant find the right answers. I have a laptop with vga and s-video output, but neither seem to work when i connect them to the bv7. In the manual it says you have to connect the pc to the dvi-i port. But it still doesnt work. Any suggestions are very welcome.

    thanks in advance, Showshone

Have you set your laptop to transfer display output to the VGA/S-video port from the LCD? If you have a PC, the function is usually activated by pressing "Fn" (usually on the bottom left of the keyboard) followed by one of the function keys (F1, F2 etc.) on the top row. Alternatively, go to Display Options or something similar in the Control Panel to reconfigure the display output.

I don't know about the BV 7, but on my BV 8 I needed to map the ports to specific buttons on the Beo4 remote (eg. TV = HDMI, DTV = SCART etc.). Have you configured the DVI-I port correctly?

    Hope this helps,

    Leo

ye think im missing something basic in the setup, due to small piece of information about plugging ur laptop to the bv7 in the manual, basically it just says: put cabel from laptop to the dvi-i port, nothing else

i put pc under list, but its just a black screen then, ive tried to give dvi port a source(av4) but it just has two sources, neither of them are pc

what is this about assigning port to buttons? how do i do that?

    how do

    I dont have a BV7 but on a BV8 I press

Beo4 MENU (depending upon the source you may have to press twice)

I get a grey menu in the middle of the screen "SETUP"

On the menu there is "CONNECTIONS"

I select "CONNECTIONS" by scrolling down (v arrow on Beo4 diamond) and pressing (GO)

    I see the "CONNECTIONS" menu:

    AV1 .. AV2 .. AV3 .. AV4 and against each is its associated type of source device

    So my AV3 has PC

I scroll down to AV3 and press (GO)

I then have a menu that says "AV3"

    and has:

    • SOURCE ....... PC
    • IR SOURCE <-- is greyed out
    • HDMI ........... YES
    • VGA ............. NO

Then on my Beo4 I set it up to have PC in the list as follows:

    1. press the standby button (orange/red dot) and hold it while you press [LIST]
    2. ADD? appears on the Beo4 display
    3. press (GO)
    4. first list item appears flashing on the Beo4 display ... if it is not "PC" then press [LIST]
    5. keep pressing [LIST] until "PC" appears
    6. when "PC" appears press (GO) and it is now one of your soft buttons

To call up PC on your Beo4 now just press [LIST], [LIST] etc until you see "PC" and press (GO)

At that point the BV7 should indicate it is switching to PC mode and provided you have also configured the connected computer to be outputing to its connection you will see a desktop screen on the BV7

    Hope this helps

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*
