Thanks for your comments Laurence, great to hear from you again.
Yes, I continue to fiddle around with that system and it is getting closer to perfection all the time. The BM8000 now works well and the faulty displays have been fixed along with other minor problems. That receiver now sounds good and looks great. The BC9000 is also working very well but I am using a BC8002 with the BM8000 at the moment because I prefer to have a set of uniform silver control buttons and it just looks better. I am also putting the final touches to the BG8002, it plays well but suffered from assembly abuse in the past. Most of that has now been fixed and I only really need to get a better quality stylus.
There were a few faulty keys on the remote but they have been sorted out as well. There was very little wrong with the CDX player, just a broken arm which was easily repaired and that now plays CD's very well. A tape input selector box was also provided as well so I can use the CDX and beolink wireless as alternative sources on the Tape2 input. All of this is currently playing through some Beovox Pentas as the main speakers and I can use the M150's on speaker 2 when I'm in the mood for a change. The CX75's were in very poor condition and are sitting on the edge of the scrap bin. On the other hand, the CX100's only needed one new driver and a refoam to get them working nicely.
There you have it, not bad for a cheap second hand system - it really does work extremely well and has come together nicely. The only single drawback is the fact that the CDX does not respond to a remote and I have to use two remotes when listening to NMusic from the beoport. Otherwise, I am ecstatic with the results and I hasn't cost me much either.
Thanks for the tip, I will send Friedmett a message and see if I can get him to help with the speaker measurements. It will be fun to play around with their appearance and they do sound good.
Keep in touch
Regards
Geoff
