Vogels VFWE 552 RC motorised wall bracket

Probably a dumb question, if so, sorry.

Due to the geography of the lounge we needed to invest in one of these so everyone in the room can see the tele (BV4).

It comes with a remote control where you can guide the screen to the desired viewing angle (I say so myself, it's pretty damned good).  I wondered if it would be possible to put these 3rd party commands on the Beo5 remote?  What is the way forward? I assume I need to capture the IR signal from the Vogel remote and then copy it to the Beo5, doesn't sound too hard (famous last words!). Is there an economic way that this can be done without having to invest in another £200 worth of hardware to "listen" to my remote to decipher the codes so they can be copied across.

Sorry for being such a newbie!  The rest of the B&O stuff we seem to have mastered, it's the 3rd parties we are struggling with

    Cheers

    Gary,

Let me start by saying that no question is a dumb question, you just currently don't have the answer !!

It WOULD be possible to add the Vogel commands to the Beo5 and how well it would work compared to the original remote will depend on the protocol it uses. If it uses one of the standard protocols such as NEC, then it will work EXACTLY the same as the original remote.

The IR codes will either have to be established by finding them on the Internet, if available or they will need to be captured from the original remote.

I can capture the codes for you if you send me the remote. You cannot just "copy them over" as you put it to the Beo5 because the codes have to be translated into an XML file in the form required by the B&O Configuration Tool. Contact me by mail for my details if you want me to capture the codes.

    Regards Keith....

Thanks for the reply and your offer of help, Keith.

I am sure this will, for my part anyway, be the easiest way forward.

Rather than put you to this trouble and looking at other 3rd party things we have in the house I wondered if it was worth the likes of mere mortals like us trying to capture the IR Commands and translate them.  I see there is plenty of cheap hardware (IRDA-USB Dongles) that might listen, so I suppose the software to interpret the raw data from the dongle and turn that into NEC codes (or similar) would be the clever bit, the translation I assume would be done by the XML Converter program-thingy on the Beoworld website.  Hmm perhaps I'll get my coat...

I'll PM you to see when best to send and how to reimburse

    Cheers

    Gary
