    problem with beogram tx2 turntable

Hi everybody I'm hoping someone can help me, I have a tracking problem with my

Beogram TX2 turntable. I think it needs to be relubed. Does anybody know what

kind of grease to use on the tracking bar? I appreciate your help! Thanks!

I've never known one to need much lubrication. What are the symptoms?

    Regards Graham

The symptoms are that the tonearm sticks and I have to give it a nudge for it to move.

Also I noticed all the grease has dried up on the tracking bar. The same thing happened to

my Technics SL-L20 turntable. I have no clue on what kind of grease to use on both of them.

I have emailed alot of people and they won't respond to me as if they want to keep it a secret.

    I don't know.

Clean off all the dried up old grease and apply very little silicone grease (NOT silicon paste!) or lithium grease. If the problem is sticky old grease, it will probably work pretty OK with no lubrication at all as long as the tracks are clean - the arm carriage mostly just sits on the tracks on its own weight, it's not a tight fit.

Your problem might also be a stretched servo belt which can't deliver enough torque to move the arm in little increments (I suppose fast moves are OK?).

Regarding emailing people, it is usually better to just post on the forum. People come here on their free time and don't get paid for any personal service ya know - on the forum, the answers benefit all the readership.

If the small belt is ok (not slipping!) check the clutch mechanism that is ultimately moving the tone-arm.Usually backwards works but fastforward or play not. I have found a cure for this.

Yes I checked the belt and it is not slipping. I think it needs a touch of light silicon grease.

Does anybody know where I can get any? Thanks for all your help!
