Any news about the new subwoofer?
Hi there, just a quick question:
Is there any news about the new tulip-shaped subwoofer?
best regards

Very curious myself.. Let's hope it's revealed soon!

Put me in the cue as well!
IMHO, one of the most exciting (anticipated) products of recent times!

Re: Any news about the new subwoofer?
Design : like a pear cut in two parts
Technology : "revolutionnary", use a physical effect like friction to work without vibration...
Price : 2000€
Performance : a little lower than Beolab 2 (I mean it goes not as deep in bass), but more "musical", read : better for music than a bl2, less good for explosions
Availability : They still hope before Xmas...

:-(
what a dilemma
First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

Uggh... early rumors were that price was going to be remarkably... realistic!
Scratch me from the list if your quote pans out!

Re: Any news about the new subwoofer?
The plan was to sell it at 50% of the price of the BL2. No one around here actually belived that, so I guess 75% of the BL2 price will be close to the actual price. Neat that you can buy covers in different colors to suit your decor, especially if you wall mount it.
It will not be released on this side of Xmas. They will launch it with the new audio system (code named A21, the BS5 light with iPod dock) early next year... which usually is in May

that is a product that I might be interested in ... except for that horrible word "light"
oh dear :-(

That's the modern marketing strategy; light / slim (PS3) / etc. ..........

Come on you cousins across the Atlantic - cue? CUE? Billiards anyone?
Also, a new subwoofer "one of the most exciting (anticipated) products of recent times!" ??
Things really are bad for B&O if that's the case!

I am a bit behind the 8-ball on this one, so don't rack me! Give me a break and chalk it up to internet laziness... queue, if you prefer!

Perhaps that should read: "one of MY most anticipated"
I just think that the concept of a wall mountable sub, that might double as architectural/art is EXCITING!
It reminds of the days of the mondrians and I for one am excited as hell to see what it looks like and how well it performs!
OK, so the mondrians didn't sell well in their day, but I would love to see a modern take on them, anyone else?

I'm with you on that one, Jaff. They were a very interesting design, good sound and even had a display. I guess the market was just not ready when they launched a speaker concept that didn't look like anything else out there. I would love a pair of those in my office if I had the space for them.

First: I thought the current BS5 was the light version already.
Second: if the new sub is launched in May it is actually available before christmas, christmas 2010 that is.

Re: Any news about the new subwoofer?
I'm jumping on the bandwagon rather late, but a couple questions:
Will it replace the BL2 or will it be another (less expensive?) subwoofer option? Will the BL2 still be produced?
Will it have a 'line in' for non B&O applications?
I cannot envision what this tulip-like shape or double-pear shape will look like. Any drawings anywhere to be seen?
I love my BL2. I've nicknamed it 'my little bowling ball'!

Re: Any news about the new subwoofer?
Waiting for news as well!
The new sub will not replace the BL2. It will not be as big of as powerful as the BL2.. basicly it's for customers where the BL2 is overkill.

Can more bass be overkill? I simply love the sound it gives me on Star Wars Episode 2 when the Seismic Bombs explode ... Terrific!

Re: Any news about the new subwoofer?
"Could bass be overkill?" Well ask the question to my neighbors (below AND above me) :-)
A smaller sub more then welcome to add some punch to my BL8000s, but for me the BL2 is a bit too much (€€) at this point.. Therefore a BL2-on-a-diet is more than welcome.

That's right! Everyone loves a grammar & spelling seagull
My dealer said that it won't be the sort of sub to add to loudspeakers like BL1, more for smaller Beolabs (what's the point then?)

There's comment about the sub woofer launch in the B&O Chairman's report in this thread (bottom of page 6).
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure. [W C Fields]

Re: Any news about the new subwoofer?
The new posters for the BeoVision 10 will be distributed with the new BeoLab 11 posters. A very classy and fresh setup for the dealers. So I guess we do not have to wait till the "A21" audio system is ready - the BeoLab 11 will be launched early in 2010.
The BeoVision 10 and the wallmounted BeoLab 6000/8000 goes very well together, so I guess a wallmounted sub must be perfect. Everything off the floor (unless you need the new BeoVision 10 cabinet, available in black or white, which basically is identical to the 8-40 cabinet minus the hole in the top plate).
