    vikinger:

One hour + later. No more posts!

    Andy is possibly

    1.Trying to instal the batteries

    2. Is having such a good time he can't be bothered posting again,

    3. Has set an alarm time and is waiting for something to turn-on. Unfortunately he's got a long wait because he's made an error with the 12/24 hour time

    4. He's gone shopping or giving someone a driving lesson

Let's hope he's not trying to get his Airport Express hooked up - he may never come back to finish this thread!Devil

Generally speaking, you aren't learning much if your lips are moving.

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

    Thanks Martin.
Now, time to put the batteries in.
This thin rectangular piece has two little knobby bits on the end, which you have to engage in the black cap on the end of the Beotime, to unscrew the cap.
To me, this just feels a little bit tacky, though they have thought to put a sliver of steel in the back of the tool. This will facilitate it sticking to the magnet on the wall bracket.
I still think they will get lost or broken easily.

    Then unscrew the cap.
Looking inside, there is a black plastic 'sledge' to place the batteries in. You can't get this out by sticking your pinky in, so it will have to come out using enertia.
Don't  flick it out vigourously, as it will fly across the room, ricochet off three walls, and end up embedded in someones eye socket.
Instead, tap the Beotime into the palm of your hand a few times. This will bring the 'sledge' to the end of the tube, then a couple of small flicks will make it emerge from the end by a couple of thou'. You can then withdraw it.

I believe that's the exact wording taken from the instruction booklet which you didn't readLaughing Also explains why the picture is blurry

Here is the 'sledge' or tobogan. Very flimsy, and strangely containing the serial number. (Easily swappable in the future, by unscrupulous eBay sellers!)
Try not to sit on this, it will break.

Re: Beotime! With photo's, videos and sounds............by Andy T.

Whilst the battery sled was out, I had a peep inside with a flash light. There didn't apper to be any method of opening it for repair, nor did there seem to be any shiny brass 'flash' points where dealers could upgrade in the future. There is at least one issue that needs addressing later, and I was expecting it to be done by dealers. More of that later.
Pop three 1.5v batteries in the sled.
The polarity is shown on the outside of the sled.
Sorry for the blurry picture, I was getting excited.

Then slide the sled into Beotime.
It will stop proud by a satisfyingly strong spring, then you can shove it in further and screw on the cap. I was a bit nervous about overtightening, as I didn't want to snap the two knobby things off the flimsy tool.

Now looking from this view, all the three display screens look the same, but they are not.  I had wondered where the Infra-Red LEDs where, and they are behind the third display.
You can see them in action HERE.

Although the screens are small, they are easy to read. Quite pleasing to watch the numbers scrolling.

Hold down the control longer and the scrolling goes fast
Looks like this in the dark, with a blueish backlight that comes on with movement or any keypress.

In my bedroom, I don't have a Beomaster which is remote controllable, so I have been using its built-in alarm. You set it like this, by pushing in a small trumpet shaped end piece, which springs out when set.

As you know, the Beotime can be used left or right handed. This shows how the dighits turn up-side-down when rotated,
Looks great on my bed side cabinet!

Cleverly hidden, it keeps the design clean. I wonder how this will influence the range...

Re: Beotime! With photo's, videos and sounds............by Andy T.

It appears to be slightly less range as a Beo4.
I can turn my lights on and off through a patterned glass door between my Lounge and Dining room whilst seated in the kitchen, using Beo4, but not with Beotime.
Due to reflections off the shiny aluminium, it seems to emanate at all angles.
Looks good on my PC desk.

The numbers appear to slide from one screen to the next.
Strangely, B&O have adopted a  very poor picture of a speaker driver, with a + or- sign for the volume.
I think  VOL^ or VOL↑ would have looked better.

Re: Beotime! With photo's, videos and sounds............by Andy T.

When you press the centre of the control pad for a prolonged press, it gives you a 'Hard Off', turning off all equipment like a Beo4, but continue pressing, and it turns lights off as well.
This is visible by two bars that lengthen on the bttom of two of the display screens
Two seperate functions, as can be seen here.

    1. those displays are far too small especially when you're half awake and bleary eyed in the morning.

    2. do the display panels light up?

    Yes please!

Just returned to this thread to find that Andy has spent the last 24 hours making 50 Youtube videos!

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure. [W C Fields]
