Re: A True Beoworld Stalwart
Absolutely - another one of the 'good guys' who tirelessly helps others behind the scenes and never once asks for credit or recognition.
I'm sure this thread will start to groan under the weight of the people Martin has helped and will agree with Peter.

Most Deserved!
It was his contact, and ultimately one of his "Cap Kits" that brought me to the old site!
I was delighted to see him again when the new site launched!
My only regret is that I don't live down the street so I could stand over his shoulder like a 7 year old in awe, at least until he kicks me out! On the other hand, I am sure he is happy that I don't!
Bravo! someday!

Re: A True Beoworld Stalwart
I couldn't agree more.
He ahs been extremely helpful to me in trying to overcome a speed problem with my BG4004, as well as providing me with various capacitors, belts, lamps etc. On one occasion he got an order very slightly wrong, dealt with the problem and gave me a cash refund as compensation!
He is so helpful and so knowledgable that I would seriously think of taking pieces to Copenhagen if I needed repairs done (on the pretext of a holiday, at least as far as the lady of the house is concerned).
A gem.

As you'll see in the workbench forum, Martin just saved my woofers from an unusual problem he had never seen before... and I sent them to him all the way from Singapore to fix! I wouldn't hesitate in future seeking his help on any item to fix.
Thank you, your advice and input is invaluable to Beoworld!
Laurence.

Re: A True Beoworld Stalwart
I thought I was the only one who had pestered Martin with a constant stream of queries when something went wrong with various bits of B&O - but it seems there are others!
Martin, your patience is legendary. Thanks for helping to keep some lovely old sets up and running, and for making collectors' lives so much less stressful :)

Re: A True Beoworld Stalwart
If it was not for Martin most of my B&O would properly not be working right.
It started of with my Beogram 8002 which was serviced for around 262£ by a local radio shop. A few months later it was nearly dead. No its old so no guarantee on the work. Martin had always said it was welcome but to me it still is a 4 hour train ride each way so it took quite a while to pack up the Beogram and get moving. Then someday it started skating over the first couple of tracks. Not good and off to Martin I went as he sugested I took it personal to him as sending a Beogram is not a good idea unless wellpacked and so on.
That was November 2007 and since then the Beogram 8002 still plays like new. It took of from there. From Beomaster to Beocord to Beograms to Terminals to Beovox's to cable work to collecting rare stuff nearby. I can't say thank you enough! You put the honor in keeping the older B&O alive and do better than anybody else period!
We still need the "Serviced by Dillen sticker" I'll take a few.

Re: A True Beoworld Stalwart
Hey, what's this ? I just noticed this thread. I'm completely overwhelmed and not quite sure what to say... Thanks doesn't really sound enough.
I'm having great fun here at Beoworld. And in the repairshop. Servicing the older B&O things and helping others keep the things alive is a great pleasure and helping owners living in areas with no access to proper service even more so. The things deserve to be kept going and I find great satisfaction in coming up with solutions to stubborn problems and looking into "impossible" faults. I'm learning a lot from this too, you know.
I've come to know a lot of nice people through Beoworld, a few I even met in person and I now have many good friends including some that I never even saw a photo of. I wouldn't be without it so thanks guys.
And ... "Captain Beoworld" ? Oh, come on. That'll have to be Peter !

Re: A True Beoworld Stalwart
Thanks. Yes, I couldn't let that one pass and I'll be happy to tell about the repairs when I get around to doing it. But actually, that was not my primary prize today; I was extremely lucky to win this lot : http://www.lauritz.com/Item/Item.aspx?LanguageId=1&ItemId=1653891 and am happy about two of these, one of them in particular. It's not a quiz but maybe someone can recognize what I bought here ?

Yes, well done Martin.
Just don't release all of your stored Beomasters onto the market at the same time!

Re: A True Beoworld Stalwart
I want to add my thanks to Martin as well. He has generously provided information and advice to me and countless others, and the speaker capacitor kits that I’ve purchased from him have a value far beyond the very reasonable price that he charges. The only thing I could ask in addition is that he come to the U.S. for a few months every year to make the vintage B&O repairs that no one here seems capable of.

Re: A True Beoworld Stalwart
This recognition is very well deserved. Though I have to say that it's all because of Martin that I have not only joined Beoworld but also spent quite a lot of euros over the last 7 years on the 350+ B&O items now in my household!.
When I first moved to France in 2002 and discovered eBay on a quiet night, I searched for B&O and stumbled upon a Beomaster 900M being auctioned by Martin. Described as 'mint' as they usually are, I was lucky enough to win and promptly received it. It still plays beautifully and that started me buying B&O via eBay from other sellers and Martin again. Beolab Pentas, complete AV9000 sytem, Capri TV, Beolink 7000, Grand Prix, JET's, many of the older systems so now my house is nearly full. There are at least 15 items per room on walls or in cabinets as well as in use (over 60 in the living room!) and still going. The latest workbench thread on the Moderne is great and is prompting me to send mine to Martin for the same treatment - if he can find any time. I still need to find time to send the CDX and amp from a penta! I don't know how you find the time to do it all Martin.
Keep going Martin. It's very much appreciated.
Dave

Re: A True Beoworld Stalwart
The man is a LEGEND.
I cannot start to tell you how he has helped me in the past and he knows he can always rely on me to help him in any way I can - even if it has nothing at to do with Beoworld......
The force is with him (he knows what I mean here)
Chris.
