    Question to BV7 owners from a BV8 40 owner...

We all love B&O's electronic curtains, right?

Well it is one of the reasons I was happy to get the BV8 40, cos it had the curtains- that bit of B&O magic! However... when you turn the TV on, the curtains open to a picture of a timer with a grey background. It takes another 45 seconds before that image turns to normal TV pictures. In my opinion that kind of kills the effect, and I thought that with the BV7, the curtains open to the actual TV images? Same with the old Avants I think too?

Is there anyway that the updates for the BV8 40 could rectify this- or am I talking rubbish?

    Thanks!

    Tom

You can adjust the curtains timing in the extra blanking menu. Customer Service Menu - Adjustments - Extra Blanking. Range is 0 - 15 sec.

The whole idea for the curtains was so they would open when the picture is ready and the sound would rise to! Do you turn your sky box off at the wall? Is that why it takes so long for the picture to work?

What Thomas means, is that because he uses the DVB-HD module to watch digital content, the tv displays a startup timer. There is no timer on analoge channels.

The Bv-7 does the same thing...The timer is there as the DBV-HD module starts up and Thomas is correct, it takes ages for the picture to be displayed. Hopefully, this will be different after the DVB-HD module update shortly...

    Hello Tom,

I own a BV7-32 MKIII and it has the magic curtains. However it's not working with DTV. My decoder is connected to the DVI port and I'am always watching DTV. So no magic curtains.

Thank you Razlaw, Stefan, Nicky, Whlerz and Piet for helping out! Much appreciated.

I'll look into the customer service menu, and will try to delay the curtains long enough for the picture.

I don't have a sky box, I am just using B&O's built-in DVB module for the freeview channels - which is why I presumed it would all have been timed to work properly, as there is no point in designing the elctronic curtains if the effect is spoiled by the picture not being ready! Not very B&O!

It is interesting that the BV7 does this too when using the DVB...

I'll see if I can delay the curtains today. Will let you know.

Thanks again for your help guys,

    Tom

Thanks Stefan, I got to the customer service menu, (I'm using the Beo5) but the only options  I get in the cust. serv. menu are:

Network, Reset to Default & Video Output

    Am I doing something wrong?

Sorry, I was talking about a BV7-40. My mistake. You have a BV8, so maybe try service menu: MENU - 0 - 0 - GO.....(?)

My BV7-40 has a submenu called Adjustments and there i can find Cinema Timings - Extra Blanking....
