Ok, How much is too much, in one room? Do I need professional help?

In one room I have far too much stuff, some of it set up to use and some there while other parts of the house are sorted out. I was thinking all this after I'd moved some stuff out of the room to sort a bedroom out!

This is off the top of my head as well, so apologies etc. I've also not included options like motorised stands etc.

    BeoVision 7-40 Mark 1 + 7-2

    Avant 32" VHS

    MX6000

    Beosound 9000 Mark 3

    Beosystem 5500, stack * 4 + MCP

    Beosystem 2400-2, radio + tape + deck

    Beomaster 2600

    Beolab 4000

    CX100

    CX50 * 2

    RL45

    S80.2

    Beovox 1000

    Attyca 1

    Attyca 2 * 2

3 Attycas in one room! I must be mad!!!

Now I'm also worried if people are thinking I'm showing off a bit.............. [:'(]

    beats my bedroom :)

it only has 3 x Beo 5000 setups

    2 x other B&O collectables

assorted passive speakers x 3 pairs

beo MP3 kit, beoport, and beowireless with active speakers

    :

    :

but maybe after I move the Beovision in and buy the Beotime ????

First B&O (1976) was a Beogram 1500 ... latest (2011) change has been to couple the BL11 with the BL6Ks *sounds superb*

I sincerely hope Dillen (Martin) picks up on this thread and posts a pic of his BM1000 collection (as he did years ago)...

Not to call him out... but the pic will make your jaw drop!

Re: Ok, How much is too much, in one room? Do I need professional help?

Well, it all looks perfectly normal to me.  Laughing

    I don't have a photo of my BM1000 collection as such. I've collected B&O
since the mid-70's, mainly their audio stuff, and it just happens the Beomaster
1000 was made in so many different versions and sub-revisions that collecting
them all will be next to impossible, especially if taking different woodsorts
into consideration as well. One version alone has (at least) 35 sub-revisions.
I own close to 100 or so BM1000's, not all different unfortunately, and my
    collection is far from complete.
The majority of my collection is in large storage boxes, parked at friends
and family members with room(s) to spare - not a lot to photograph there -
and a few things are in bubble-wrap plastics on shelves like in these photos.
The BM1000's are not even collected the same place but there are some here.

So I take it that you don't listen to them daily, do you? Laughing

I took a quick (mental) count and it seems I have about 50 items, speaker pairs counted as one... not all in the same place though, they wouldn't fit here Unsure

And then you wake up in the morning and realise what you forgot to put on the list last night......

    2 * VX 5000

    VX 7000

    V 8000

    2 * HDR 1 (80 + 250)

I'm liking the fact that other people have far too much as well...

Although almost all of mine is to be used as setups to be used on a (almost) daily basis.

I'm guessing Dillions is now more business based for most of his and the other room full of different systems must be a great comparison between the models.

So in summary glad its not me then, mind you I'm only really 3 years in to collecting B&O stuff on top of my other collections.

Re: Ok, How much is too much, in one room? Do I need professional help?

Business based ? Not at all !
    And never will be.
I could have chosen matchboxes instead of radio's.
I sell the odd part from a scrapped machine now and then plus some repro parts that are otherwise
unavailable but nothing I can make a living from. I like to repair and restore old B&O's
and I enjoy helping people with the same interest.
If I were to run a business I think, I would have followed Lee's path and concentrated on newer things.

I was ten when I started collecting and it just got out of hand somehow.
I would love to keep everything and collect even more but I simply have
no room for it so I have had to decide what to collect within a more specific range
or theme and am slowly selling out the other things. I rarely buy anything nowadays
apart from documentation, manuals, catalogues etc.

Quite right - very little money to be made in old B&O. I think our collections just creep up on us! I got to over 100 pieces and then decided that I simply had too much and it was wasted. I now having everything I want and a few bits I don't!

Thank god for the bubble wrap, just think how hard it would be for your wife to have to dust all that stuff !

Not that I should talk I am rapidly heading down the same slippery slope. I just added a Beomaster 1600 and a beogram 1600 to my "collection".

    Thank God for linen closets.

    My collection:

    3 Beosystems in total.

Beolab 8000 with Beocord 9000, Beogram 8002, CDX and Beovox M150. Now living room use only.

Beosystem 6000 white edition. Beocord 6000, Beogram 6006, white SC60 stand, Beovox S80.2 and Beovox S120. My dad is using some of it.

Beosystem 6500 with Beocord 6500, Beocord 5500, Beogram CD5000, MCP6500. Used in the "office" and for all link rooms exept living room.

Beovision LX5500, VX7000 in the bedroom. Beolink 1000 as main remote.

Beovision AV9000 in the living room. Connected to Beosystem 6500 so I can still enjoy it in the living room. I do lack surround speakers for the AV9000 though. Beo4 as main remote.

    Link:

3 X-tra speaker kits. 1 X-tra tvkit. So far white Beovox CX100's in the kitchen with a speakerkit. The other 2 are still in the boxes NOS. MCP6500 used mostly in kitchen.

IR code converter kit. Still missing IR eye and a transformer. Not used. Not for sale though

    Spares:

    Beocord 8000, Beomaster 6000, VX7000 white top. Attyca II , Beocord 1600, Beovox 2702, Beogram 1202, Beovox S45, Beocord 1900

I belive that it should be used and I can't keep every thing that turns up in my life but in some cases I might go for it but I'm not a collector.

As always my collection of pictures can be seen here:

    http://s114.photobucket.com/albums/n277/Friedmett/?albumview=slideshow

I did made a video back when I got my Canon Ixus 80 IS of my Beolab 8000 system just testing how good the quality would be.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2KgZAEUDVg

That was cramped living. 16 square meters but with B&O around it was cool. Now I wonder how did I fit it all into that place?

If Martin decides to dispose of this lot the second hand B&O market will collapse overnight!

That would be bad news for existing collectors.Sad

Re: Ok, How much is too much, in one room? Do I need professional help?

Impressive collection Martin. I started in 2000 and have had plenty of new stuff and recently more and more vintage. In my retro (big) room I have:

    Beogram 1000, 1800, 4000, 4002, 4004.

    Beolab 5000 (1967), Beomaster 5000 (1967), 3000-2 (from you), 4000, 4400 (Tim Jarman's)

    Beovox 5000, S-45, S-55

    MX4000, Beovision 8

    Beo4, Beolink 1000

and some 30 catalogues between 1967 and 2009.

My next targets: Thorens turntable, Beosystem 8000, Beolab penta's, a Beomaster 900k (I completely missed your auction Martin) and probably a Beosystem 5000 or any of its derivatives.. I can expect fighting with my wife to get this in our place.

Actually the 4400 was mine which Tim and I pulled apart as we had visions of turning it into a 4401! Frede then found two real ones so I sent all the bits back to Tim and said he could sell it once he had reassembled and fixed it!! He said it was a beast of a job so I hope he got a decent price!! Rest assured that it was completely taken apart by me  and put meticulously back together by Tim!! Definitely the right way round! Laughing

Yes the AV9000 is a firm favourite with BL3000 as front and a pair of CX100 off a Cona as the rear surround speakers.

Just a shame it only has one free Scart socket, unless I can find a reasonable B&O AV expander.

I use an AV2 and have a Wii, a Sky box and a DVD/Freeview box attached to mine. The Sky is controlled by a STB-C and the DVD by a DVD-C (though I don't use the DVD-C much as it does not work all the functions).
