    Help With Blu Ray choices

    Hello All

My Ps3 has broken and my choices are:

Buy a replacement Bluray drive £100 and fit it myself and hope it corrects the problem with BD disks not playing.

    or

Buy a replacement bluray laser and fit this to the bluray drive £60 and hope its just the laser.

    Or

BV7 Bluray drive £1000 (not on your nelly)

    Or

Buy one of the following from my PUC list

    Panasonic DMP-BD10

    Panasonic DMP-BD55

    Panasonic Blu ray?

    Sony BDPs300

    G Sony BDPxxx

My question is if i buy a bluray player from the list about will it turn the player on and off?

What are my other choices with PUC i dont have?

Is there any model that the puc turns on and off? as PS3 does not

    What do you all think

Re: Help With Blu Ray choices

I don't know much about never beovisions, but I am certain that all players in your PUC list will turn on/off. The reason the PS3 can't is because there is no IR command to do so, you have to use the BT remote or something than simulates the signal over BT. There once was a link in a thread here on beoworld with an IR receiver that had a little wire and I believe it had a coil which you taped onto the powerbutton to simulate a fingerpress.

Long story short, all normal IR controlled players will turn on/off as long as there is a PUC code for it.

Sell the broken PS3 on ebay as damaged (sure you get some bucks for it, i'd say minimum 100), buy the new PS3 slim :-)

    Right!

Buy this one; the Oppo BDP83; best quality - price rate. And it "eats" almost all discs

I'll add my vote to the PS3 Slim solution : an evolutive blu ray player which can read content over the ethernet, with high definition games as a bonus seems like a great deal for me!

    Panasonic DMP-BD10

    None on Ebay for comparision

    Panasonic DMP-BD55

There is a thread saying that the BD60 works well with the BD55 PUC http://forum.beoworld.org/forums/p/25964/198821.aspx#198821

I have read that there is problems with the players turning on and off is this true?

These are on ebay for about £120 buy it now but according to some reviews these players are only profile 1 and dont play some disks

    http://www.trustedreviews.com/home-cinema/review/2008/01/21/Sony-BDP-S300-Blu-ray-Player/p1
