    BeoLab 5000 panels

I think the sound from my BeoLab 5000 panel speakers is great and I have no regrets having added these to my collection.

Hoping they last to provide me with a few more years of listening pleasure.

    Hi Rob

I have to agree with you. I dont regret mine eighter :)

Love the clear defined sound picture and the surprizingly powerful bass they reproduce even at high output.

would the source display work from a Beosound3200/Avant/link set-up on them? Confused

The display works with any setup but you need to use MK2 (=Thick, fully wired) Powerlink cables, and you set the AUDIO/VIDEO switch accordingly.

Remarkably, I think the answer is yes. I seem to recall them being disposed of at low prices at the end...

Can anyone shed light onto why?

    Re: BeoLab 5000 panels

Because they are very large and take up a lot of wall space. They were also quite expensive and lacked the sound quality of the Penta which was positioned as the top speaker in the range (I know some people dispute the sound quality but that is what a B&O salesman told me!). The BL4500 was continued as a more acceptable size but even this was not a great sales success. They were making the Redline and Pentas and then moved into the 8000 and 6000 ranges so the 4500 seemed rather old fashioned, not being properly active. 4000s can be wall mounted and are rather more flexible.

I have given my 5000s to my dentist! Still have my 3000s though!

Again no regrets, another satisfied owner.

Do the speakers sound significantly different on the wall? I have yet to mount mine but will be doing so very soon.

It makes a huge difference - well worth doing. You will get some bass!

The type of wall construction also makes a difference. Stud walls give the most bass boost, in my opinion.

That is great news! Because that is where they were headed! I just wanted to know if the difference was impressionable.

    Re: BeoLab 5000 panels

Well I have just recently finished mounting my BL5000s on the wall and I must agree, the sound has certainly improved! The sound seems so much more precise.
