    AVANT VCR SCART Socket

Sorry, I'm notoriously bad at starting long threads, hope this one's not too bad but basically, I'm running out of SCART inputs on my AVANT 32 VCR. I already have a sky box and Freeview DVD recorder connected, along with the AV cable between the VCR mech and the TV (though I've never understood why you have an external cable between two elements of an 'integrated' system)?

Anyway, now I've gone and done it by buying myself a DVD1 to act as a Master Linked player.  Some simple answers here, I know, like.... why don't I just forget about using the AVANT VCR bit, since I no longer have any tapes to speak of.  Or, maybe just forget about using the DVD1 as a linked device (via AVANT modulator) and just put the DVD1 in the bedroom.  But then I can only access from that room and not from all rooms, or can I?  (AVANT in the living room and have a BV3 in one bedroom and MX6000 in another).

Then I got to snooping around and had forgot that the AVANT has a second SCART connection from the VCR mech. Now, how does that work?  AND, how do I select the second SCART on the VCR as a source.  Is it V.AUX? No, that didn't work...  What source to I need to add to my Beo 4 to display this input AND, if I connected the DVD1 to it, could that work from a linked room TV?  Or should I just opt for the B&O AV expander, though I don't know how that works either.  Does that have an automatic or manual switch.  Most of the 2>1 SCART adaptors I've seen in the high street (those that are left) seem to have a 'button' to select input A or B etc and we B&O geeks hate buttons don't we :-)

So is the second SCART input as useless as the one that first came with the VX5000 or can I do something with it?

    Many thanks.

    Re: AVANT VCR SCART Socket

You have forgotten about something... you have an video entry that is not a SCART, but Composite + Left + Right sound near the buttons on the back of the TV.

It can be activated using CAMERA, or DOORCAM on the Beo4.

Another solution would be to daisy chain the SKY box and the Freeview if this is possible...

Well yes you're right. I hadn't forgotten it, but had ruled it out because I was obviously thinking of somewhere to connect the DVD1 and still have masterlink connectivity.  But of course, I can just connect the Freeview via a SCART to RCA plugs which I have, as long as I can put up with having to select CAMERA etc to see the picture.  Humm, seems the best compromise for now. Thanks for the reminder :-)
