    Another traitor!!

I'm sorry to say that I am also a traitor. As some of you know I'm waiting for the new BV7 to come out so I have purchased a Pioneer pdp 427XD Plasma to use in our second lounge untill I get the BV7.

First impressions are excellent, the HD picture is amazing via Sky HD. Will try and connect it to the Avant tomorrow so I can control the TV with a Beo4 via the Beolab 3500. Wish me luck.

This TV in John Lewis is £1700.00. Got it for £1099.00 via AJ Electronics. Amazing value for money.

    Beolab 8000, Beolab 6000, Beolab 2, LG CX65, Beosystem 3, Beosound 9000, Beolab 3500

I'm not a TV fan and I'm prepared to believe you - I'm not convinced that B&O are as far ahead in the LCD/ Plasma stakes as they were in the CRT stakes - I've seen the Avant and was convinced that there wasn't a better CRT but I've also seen the BV7 and been less convinced! (although I've never had a good look at the BV5/BV9).

I've only seen large scale plasma (50") at a friends house (on standard freeview/satellite) and its not for me! Until everthing is broadcast in 1080 or I can sit farther away from the screen, the resolution isn't good enough for general viewing at close-ish range (<4m).

As always only buy what pleases you!

Generally speaking, you aren't learning much if your lips are moving.

    Re: Another traitor!!

I too think the Avant DVD was streets ahead of the competition, and i still feel a great deal of satisfaction selling an Avant RF.  I love giving people value for money, and the Avant at the moment is exactly that. An absolutely jaw-dropping picture with thundering sound if you want it. What a television!  I do understand people wanting slimmer TV's though, as properties are getting smaller these days, and space is at a premium.

Even though i think the BV7 is a beautifully designed television, with a quite remarkable speaker in the BeoLab 7.1, i still think the LCD screen is average at best.  I sold my last BV7 to an absolutely lovely couple today, who were trading in an Avant - and i actually told them point blank they were taking a step down in picture quality.  However, they were sold on the design and sound, so i couldn't argue!

I don't think the BV7 is that bad, but if you are paying £6500+ for it, you need to really think hard about why.  B&O are still streets ahead on design, but that's about it at the moment...  I love B&O through and through, but i'm also a realist.

    I feel the same way.

I bought a sony as there was nothing in the current bno stable that fitted the bill , certainly not priced in the real world with features that are standard on tv's costing a fraction of a beovision.

The fact that freeview isn't standard equipment on all bno tv's is pretty crazy to say the least.

The last thing I want is another box cluttering the place up and ruining the whole design.

Spot on Flappo. It needs a HD DVD too.
