    New Television

    Hello All,

Hoorah.. I'm about to buy a new television.

I presently have a beocentre 6- 26.. Great television and even better sound...but am looking for something bigger. It will be relegated to the study to be watched by the partner when he cant stand the UK crime shows anymore!

Was really tempted by one of Lee's preloved beovision 5's (gosh they look smart) but given they are not HD and dont have all the latest connections I'm not sure. I did read the thread re this issue and note Bayerishce is the happy owner of a beovision 5... And yes it does look smart in your living room Bayerische!!!!!!!

Then I was sure a beovision 8-40 was the answer. HD, updated connections etc.... B&O Sydney have kindly let me know of a price rise for B&O products from 1 September..So i'd better hurry up. I can't justify paying even more an already very pricey TV.

Now i read vague reports of a new 'family of LCD' TV's.... What's this about????? I don't need to have the newest and shiniest of products..but buying a TV when new offerings are just around the corner.....

Advice or news???? What are the new offerings? Are they in the same price range as BV 8's?? Should I just go with the Beovision 8 and be done with it?

    Best Wishes

    David Coyne

    Hi David,

The price increase in September coincides with an extended warranty on all B & O products (excluding spare parts). Warranty will be 3 years come next month. The BeoVision 8 family will not be affected by the price increase - i quote "We will, however, keep the prices for the BeoVision 8 unchanged in order to maintain the attractive price point for this Bang & Olufsen television family."

The new BeoVision 10 will be priced at more then the 8-40 so if this is what they mean - i think you should go for the 8-40.

    Re: New Television

    I've made my choice :

    a)SWMBO wanted a TV soon
    b)The BV8 40 is very attractive
c)The BV10 will surely be more B&O with more aluminium & glass, but it shares the same electronics as the BV8... And will be more expensive!
d)I had a good deal and 5 years warranty and my dealer told me the price increase will impact the BV8

As I can not see myself spending more than 4k€ on a TV, the BV8 was a good solution to get a full B&O 5.1 sound with a B&O image...

I was a little interested in the BV8-40 but since I don't have any HD sources, and not planning on getting them before they become the standard source, I chose the BV5. A decision I haven't regretted. It's such a majestic piece of design and electronics.
