Ideas Lab needs to create a clear integrated vision and underpin it with its own common B&O platform. The Platform needs to offer a common software architecture to integrate Vision, Media Distribution, Sound, 3rd-party integration, A/V Networking. I would put products like Beo5, BeoSound 5, and BeoMedia 1 in a corner of the office as clear examples of fragmented thinking, too slow to market and limited innovation that deliver very limited customer value, beyond the craftsmanship of the chassis.
Focus on what dfferentiates B&O:
Tactile and simplified experience
21st century integration; centralised media access, ability to view HD around the home, seamless integration with 3rd party products
Web integrated; dynamic access to updates; (good music, good movie suggestions) Social MOTS; place a B&O experience over a partnership with a movie provider like a NetFlix and Music from Amazon (or even Nokia). B&O is too small to think about publisher contracts to do its own thing.
The shame is that I get more of this from an Airport Express, Apple TV and an iPhone and those 3 products cost £455 all up.
Sorry, the hard edge comes from BV7-40 MkIII ownership and then seeing how a great company can make it worse with the MKIV.
