    Beogram 6006 - worth fixing?

    Afternoon all

I got a faulty Beogram 6006 as part of a Beosystem 6000 that I recently acqired and wanted to ask whether or not it was worth fixing?

After I first plugged it in, it didn’t come on immediately, but came to life whilst I was fiddling with the compartment lid (which has come away from its hinge).  It then wouldn’t turn, but after a while did respond to the turn button and did vary its speed depending on which speed was selected.  However the speed is inconsistent and goes in bursts, speeding up and slowing down. The stylus arm and the arm with the red light and downward facing light both operate OK.

Does this sound like an easy thing to fix and is it worth it???  It still has the original stylus on it (MMC20EN), though at this time I don’t know whether it’s working or not.

    Any thoughts much appreciated

    Thanks in advance

    I

Re: Beogram 6006 - worth fixing?

These are nice decks and almost always worth restoring. This one sounds like
    a good candidate.
The speed bursts will be caused by the tachodisc (new repro part is available).
The rest of the unstabilities will be caused by cracked solder joints and dried out
capacitors for which a capacitor kit is available.
The rest (if anything) is mainly cleaning and lubricating.
