    beogram 6000

    hi all guys,

I knew your forum some week ago looking for info about beogram 6000. I hope it is the right section. I have a beogram 6000 to be connect to a tube amplifier. I'd just want to ask if I have to use a separate prephono or I can use the incorporate one in the beogram 6000?

    thanks for help

The Beogram 6000 quad produces line level output so will be just the same as attaching a tape player or CD player. You have no need for a separate pre-amplifier. Which amplifier do you plan to use?

    oh thanks  peter. I have a tube amplifier named T-Audio Tre.Zero http://www.t-audio.it/amplificatori_integrati.php

It is built in Sicily. Do you think I have to put cd-4 off to listen stereo Lp?

I would switch off the CD4 though the rear channels will not be used anyway. It does stop the 6000 from picking up bogus carrier waves though. Your problem is going to be connecting the turntable to the amplifier - you normally have an earth connection which I cannot see on this amplifier. Beograms can be a little prone to hum without a decent earth.

mh....I never had a phono, so I probably underestimate some staff. I don't mind about rear speakers 'couse I've just 2, so I'll swich off CD4.

about the connection to my amplifier I bought this cable http://cgi.ebay.it/Bang-Olufsen-Turntable-DIN-CableAdapter-Goldmonster_W0QQitemZ160350125267QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item25559cbcd3&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177&_trkparms=%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

about earth I don't know. I thought that I could not connect it.........It's not correct, right?

That is the correct lead - the problem is that your amp has no earth connection - I would suggest connecting the earth to a convenient earth point - a radiator pipe or similar. You cannot access the rear channels as you would need a four channel amplifier - I wouldn't bother!

I don't think the ground lead will be a problem. Since the BG6000 sends the audio out at line level, the unamplified signals prone to hum stay all inside the Beogram, grounded or not. Try just leaving it unconnected.

Please leave the radiator pipes out of the equation. Using them for grounding can be an electric shock danger if anything goes wrong in the equipment.

Well ok, so I'll try initially in the most sinple way, connecting just the rca and not earth. then we'll see. But in general the beogram is noisy as turnable?

    Re: beogram 6000

No - every turntable will hum if you try to connect phono level signals without an earth wire. With all B&O equipment, you don't have to worry about it because the shell of the DIN connector will take care of that automatically. This won't happen with RCA connectors, so then you would need a separate ground connection. But as I said, I don't think you need it in this application.

    Re: beogram 6000

thanks for help. I will connect through an rca adaptor to my amp (the amp has not ground) , but as you said maybe the turable won't hum. But in positive case, what I have to do in order to avoid it?

Then you'll need to have a point where to connect the ground lug - something that is connected to the ground of the amp. Perhaps loosen some screw in the casing of the amp, and tighten it between there... but don't worry about that in advance.
