Hello - This is Jim from Kuwait - I have just purchased the beosound 5. I have now had B and O staff here for 3 DAYS !!! tring to connect to my PC. All in all they have been in my flat for 12 hours!!!!. They have sorted out N-Musuc and N-Radio but they are unable to connect wirelessly to my pC. Has anyone had similar problems . I am now considering a refund. In addition the Beosound 5 will not work with my B and O cd player..

Re: beosound 5 wi fi set up

    Hello and welcome to Beoworld,

you posted in the wrong forum, Jim ;-) Perhaps somebody of the moderators can move it to the Beosound 5 forum!? DONE Keith

    1.) Beosound 5 Wifi:

Did I understand you correct that your Beosound 5 works and you can use N.Music AND N.Radio via Wi-Fi?

    - Do you have a wireless accesspoint or a combined wireless router / access point installed at home?

    - Can the PC see the Beosound 5 and just can NOT connect or couldn't you see the Beosound 5 with its IP-Adress?

    - Did you or the B&O staff enter a client password on the Beosound 5?

    2.) Beosound 5 <-> B&O CD Player

Could you please specify what kind of "CD player" you use or did you mean a complete audiosystem like Beosound 9000 or 3200, 3000 etc.?
Connection between CD player and you Beosound 5 via Masterlink (the cable with the big wide plug ...)?

Re: beosound 5 wi fi set up

The problem has been in communicationg with my PC - the engineers were stating that the ports were blocked from the PC. They have eventually connected to a Sony VAIO laptop - which means I now have to spend hours transferring my songs from my pc to the laptop - not ideal.

The CD plyer I have is the overture - They have no solution for this. When I have the Beosound 5 playing and I press CD on the remote- both systems play

    Regards Jim

On your PC you should disable anything like firewalls (windows firewall or 3rd party programs like zone alarm etc.) and virus scanner to stop port blocking and see if it works!

You don't need hours to transfer your music. Use an external USB-Harddisk (USB 2.0 Highspeed) and you'll save time!

    CD-Player:
This sounds as the Beosound 5  is setup as an audiomaster - and that doesn't work when it's connected to another B&O system.
You - or the B&O staff - should enter the settings menu  of the Beosound 5 and set Audiomaster to NO.

Is your Overture N.Music compatible? It should as it will NOT be able to control the Beosound 5 when it is not compatible. My Beosound 3000 needed a software update from my dealer  to get the N.Music/N.Radio function!

Unfortunately Ouvertures are not N.Music compatible and there is no way to make them compatible.
