    Showing off my new BV7-40

So my saga has now finished...

After having the BV8-40 for about 6 weeks & not being over impressed with it, my B&O dealer (I cannot speak more highly of them) gratefully upgraded the unit to the BV7-40 which arrived this week, being so far from the dealer though I did have to set it up myself,(with a PS3, Xbox360, WDTV, and all the speakers etc!!!) Wow, you just gotta love those instructions from B&O!! But I am now over the moon with it, the picture is far better, does not suffer from the 'BV8 Opera effect'. The BV7.4 speaker is just the best :-)

The unit is a perfect replacement for my BV6-26 which is now in the bedroom.

Now I just have to go and watch some Blu Ray movies....

Congratulations. When B&O get the BV7-40 right - like the MKIII I have right now, which is flawless - it's a superb TV.

However, do you realise the 7.4 is a basic mono centre speaker? 7.2 would be far better if you don't have other speakers.

I'm using Beolab3's (4) and a beolab2. It's great to be able to hear the voices instead of too much surround through the 7.4 speaker.

Although I would hardly call the 7.4 speaker "Basic"

Cute? It looks like it wants to eat the TV... i'd be frightened of going to sleep with a cat in my house looking at me like that

I am curious about why, except for the obvious look of it, you have chosen to go on with the BeoCenter 2 when you have both dvd, bluray and a super cd player in your new set? Is it for radio only?

    Looks like a disc-less 7-40...

    Yes, cute cat!

Have you purchased the Mk4 or the Mk3?

With some of the issues reported with the latest version, and deals available for the preceding one, seems to be a good case for the Mk3...

    Certainly pleased with mine.

I think you misinterpret my use of 'basic'. If it's used on its own, it's limited in capability. It's designed as central mono speaker. I don't know why we have to turn frequent Beoworld discussions in to debates about our use of grammar. Happens too often.

Re: Showing off my new BV7-40

    Answers;

Yes it is a MKIV set

It is the version with no DVD or Bluray as I have a Beocentre2 which I need to keep as it plays all my old UK DVD's as it's region free. Plus the Beocentre2 looks great. Also I have a PS3 which is a great Bluray player, Xbox360 best games machine and the WDTV is the best media player! Phew feel like a nerd.....

The cat is going to rule the planet (I'm sure that's what he thinks?)

And I'm sorry moxxey didnt mean to question your grammer.

Anyway, going to watch my favourite movie 'The Big Blue' (Le grand bleu) on BluRay tonight, can't wait Smile

Congrats on that beautiful setup. I am a bit jealous, no space for a 40" in my apartment.

lovely bit of kit - and a really good idea going for a disc less version as you can choose a superior 3rd party player now

i'd prob go that route if i ever bought one

Can the 7-40 control your WDTV?

If yes, can you recommend it?

    Easy to control subtitles etc.?

Re: Showing off my new BV7-40

    Hi,

As far as I know there isn't any codes yet to control the WDTV, so I do have to use it's own remote...but the WDTV is great for playing back nearly any format inc. FLAC which is great for music purists, I have copied most of my albums this way and just put them on a hard drive which is always connected to the WDTV. Oh and yep, it's easy to use the Subs selection, just depends on the source.

On a separate note, I have had the BV7 for a few months now and apart from a small hiccup with red screen of death (which my B&O dealer sorted out very quickly considering I live 500K from them) I really love the TV, colours are brilliant and the sound has seemed to hit a sweet spot, playing with all the settings paid off! Watching Inglourious Basterds on Blu-ray, when the David Bowie song comes on just blows me away, such a great film to experience on the BV7, I just wished I had the 55" now !!!

    Cheers

Very nice!  Would you kindly explain how you connected the PS3 to BV 7?

    Urmmm, HDMI Lead....

I got all the units, ie WDTV, PS3, Xbox360 & the Brains to the BeoCentre 2 setup behind a partition wall, all using HDMI except the Beo2 which uses scart.

    Cheers
