BeoSound 5 - scheduled update for Week 29

To ease the selection of BeoSound 5 sources for those customers using Beo4, it is now possible in the SETTINGS menu of BeoSound 5 under the point named ROLES to assign A.MEM, CD or RADIO names to N.MUSIC or N.RADIO. This will simplify the remote navigation now giving one-click access to both N.MUSIC and N.RADIO. In addition to better remote navigation, the chosen new source names will also appear on the BeoSound 5 display and on the BeoMaster 5 menu (if connected to a Bang & Olufsen television.)
Note: For customers already using Beo5, this update will be of no relevance. Note also, that this update is only applicable, if BeoSound 5 is the only audio master in a set-up.
Also, the kit to have the BM5 built into the BV9 will be available after the summer.

Thanks for the information.  My Beosound 5 is downloading the update now.  It is 11:45 am here in Chicago.  I am looking forward to the results.

The update was easy and took less than 5 minutes.  There are release notes in Settings, Maintenance menu.  It seems it was only pertains to a stand alone system as an audio master.  I did change n.music to CD and n.radio to Radio for use with a Beo4.

I wish B&O had sent an email with update information.  There might be other changes that are not apparent.

    Roger,  Thanks!

following the update yesterday, and no past problems.

Today my BS5 locked up, stopping with a cursor in the middle f the screen.

Required a manual system reboot. Anyone else experienced this?

Great. So activating N.RADIO from Linkrooms should also be possible just by touching the display of a BL3500 or by pressing RADIO on a BL2000..(?)

I can confirm that linkroom navigation works fine with CD/Radio on Remote via MX4002 and on BL2000 normal buttons after getting the new version installed.

I haven´t had any problems at all with my installation of BS5/BM5 so far.

Re: BeoSound 5 - scheduled update for Week 29

I have had no issues with the system since the upgrade but "unfortunately" as I have a BeoSound4 in my setup I am unable to make use of the new functionality with the source names which is a real drawback. If any of you have any ideas how to solve this (apart from selling the BeoSound4) then your input would be appreciated. I only use the CD functionality once in a blue moon via the BeoSound and never Radio, only N-Radio and N-Music.

Also note that the latest software upgrade also contained a new BeoPort/BeoConnect client version. If your client PC has not already detected this then try to shut down the application and restart it or alternatively reboot your client PC.

Does anyone know other stuff that is fixed or new functionality that is incorporated in this new version?

Re: BeoSound 5 - scheduled update for Week 29

I have experienced that after changing to 'CD' and 'RADIO' on my BS5, my BV AVANT cant play the sound from my BS5 any more. I use to press 'A-N.MUS' on my BEO4 remote an then the sound was on my BV AVANT, but it dos not work any more!

Is there a function that gets CD and RADIO sound over my AVANT that I don't know of?

Any surgestions, or other that experience the same problems?

Should work with AV - CD and AV - RADIO. Did you try that?

THX Stefan. It works that way. I didn't know that, but it's logical it should be like that.

You`re welcome. When you connect your Beolabs to the Avant and set it to V.OPT 2 and the BS5 to A.OPT 0 , you would be able to control BS5 via RADIO ans CD commands.

Is there any trick to launch the update? My BS5 hasn't been updated and is correctly connected to the web. When I select 'Check updates' it returns 'no update available'. Software version is 5.02. Has anyone any clue?

Re: BeoSound 5 - scheduled update for Week 29

    Hi Griebel,

The current software version is still 5.02, the latest update (mine updated itself last week) changed the BS5/BM5 Application from version 4.01.01.1084 to version 4.02.01.1291 and the BM ML Firmware from version 2.25 to version 2.27.

It maybe that your BS5 has already updated itself automatically, but you may have missed the changes above as, like me, you were expecting the software version to change.

    Kind regards

    Paul

    Hi Paul,

You're right about the software version (5.02). However my BS5/BM5 Application version seems to be an earlier, ie 4.01.00.0953. Same for BM5 ML Firmware, which is 2.25.

As I said, the Check for update returns 'no update available'. Intriguing. The only thing I can think about is that, since I'm located in the Parisian area, that the updates are not for BS5 located in France. If this is the case someone has to explain to me why.

    Regards,

    Guy

    Hi Guy,

Very strange as since Application 4.01.00.0953 I have received two more application updates, the latest only last week. I would contact B&O in France and ask them why.

I have updated my Beosound manually once before, (I was too impatient to wait for the automatic update due later that evening!) and seem to remember that it returns a message like 'downloading software update' and then counts up to 100% then installs with various progress messages appearing on the screen of the BS5.

I cant imagine that being located in the Parisian area should make any difference to available updates.

    Best wishes

    Paul

Re: BeoSound 5 - scheduled update for Week 29

I have just acquired a BeoSound 5 and am in the process of trying to commission it myself.

I would like to rename my N.Music & N.Radio on my BS5. When I go to Roles, I just get 2 options - Audiomaster - chosse yes or no, & AM with choices of 0,1 or 2. How do I get to the option of changing the names. For the moment, I am using the BS5 as a standalone until I get a masterlink cable & plug to link it with the main system.

    Many thanks for any advise.

If your main system contains an Audio system, you won't be able to rename source on the Beosound 5....

The options to make these changes only show up after you select the BS5 as Audio Master.
