    Re: Table Lamp Control?

Thanks for the suggestions chaps but these would be very expensive for the number of table lamps I have!

I could go down the radio controlled route (even Ikea do these) for around £20 to control a few lamps, but I really do want control via my Beo4,5 and A9.

Surely there must be a more cost effective way? At the moment the difference between radio controlled and B&O controlled is HUGE!

    Re: Table Lamp Control?

I suppose it all comes down to scale of production and the price B&O owners are thought to be willing & able to pay!

Little wonder LC2s still command high prices on auction sites as there do not appear to be any 'reasonably' priced alternatives.

The Lintronics may be good and effective but with tax are ridiculously expensive especially for multiple lighting setups.

I have 8 LC2s in my lounge and a couple have lost the ability to dim so I have added cheap dimmer switches (hidden) after the LC2s and before the lamps they control. Can't dim these from the Beo4 but at least they switch on to a pre-determined dim level. Together with the still fully working remaining 6 at least different overall 'light pictures' can still be achieved.

  • Convert the signal of Bang&Olufsen remote controls to a Marmitek X-10 signal.
  • Use your BEO4 remote control to dim lights and switch electric equipment.
  • Ideal for your home cinema: the right setting for your lighting with one press of a button.
  • The IR455 'B&O to X-10 converter' brings the worlds of Bang&Olufsen and Marmitek X-10 together. From now on you can control all your lighting and electric equipment with your own BEO4 remote control! The IR455 converts the signal of your BEO4 remote control to Marmitek X-10 signals. You can then benefit from all the advantages of the Marmitek X-10. It can be used in combination with the XM10E powerline adapter.

    http://www.marmitek.com/

Also not cheap. The converter 175,- euro. The cheapest dimmer is 30,- euro each.

Or choose a brand and use de IR-translator from Lintronic. Sometimes you can find one on E-bay.

Is there anything that would work in the US?

I like the Aludim but it says 230 volt while we have 120.

    Thanks for that Ehlerz.

I get the home page and others, but when I click on the link at the bottom for the online shop, I get an error. Do you or anyone have the correct link for the shop?

I do have the innovus dimmers. They are cheap, especially if you order a pack of 3. The company sometimes takes about a month to ship them, and they emit a near ultra sound pitch that can be annoying at night. I would recommand them as they are the best cheap solution, but not for a bedroom. P.

Now those are really rather nice - rather better looking than either the LC1 or 2. Nice one Mikael!

What's going on? 'Membership' just to access the shop?

What are they a secret society? Seems odd to me that you have to jump hoops just for the 'privilege' of buying from them!

I can't access their shop and the link to the Forum/FAQs fails for me also.

Doesn't exactly inspire confidence in them as a company.

I am planning to use two in a bedroom so noise is a big issue. Can you expand on what you mean please PhilLondon?

Could other users confirm that they hear a noise too?

Anyone know their returns policy in the event I do order the 5 pack then decide being able to sleep is more important than Beo control of my lamps?!!

The manual is on the innovus.eu site.

    http://www.innovus.eu/fileadmin/user_upload/manual/z-wave/smartdimmer-00110001-tech.pdf

Confusingly, this manual refers to 220v yet references elsewhere on the site are to 110-220V so maybe Striker27 needs to email them re suitability for the US.

Also, this site shows them prewired with a 2 pin plug and light fitting, but elsewhere they appear to be for self wiring or possible fixed wall locations.

    Leo,

Are you up very early or retiring very late?

Thanks for clearing up the 110v issue and the fact that the units on sale must be reduced on the basis that they've gone out of production.

(Can a moderator merge the threads or put a permanent link into the headings of one?)
