    Beocom6000 - Auto Mute

    Hi All,

I love the feature of the Beocom that allows me to turn down the volume on all my other B&O equipment, but the problem is I don't always hear the phone because of the other equipment!

Is there any way to make the phone automatically turn down / mute the volume on my other stuff whenever a call comes in?

I'm guessing no, but hoping someone will prove me wrong!

    Cheers

    Hi k984942,

It is not possible to have the Beocom 6000 automatically turn down the volume of your audio or video equipment.

    Burnix

    Hi,

if you want that feature you'll need a Lintronic Box combined with a telephone line adapter!

Everytime your phone rings it automaticaly mutes your equipment! :)

Damn! I thought it was wishful thinking!

Its a shame really, the phone clearly has all the hardware it needs to perform this - I guess it was an oversight on B&O's part not to include this feature!

Who knows, perhaps it will happen with the forthcoming Beocom due out this year!

Nope - this was a deliberate choice.

    Re: Beocom6000 - Auto Mute

Well - first of all MUTE is a toggle function which means that sending out MUTE would un-mute devices that was already muted. Secondly, all telephones would be sending out the MUTE which would result in an unknown situation.

Sending out VOL_DOWN is also a solution but again all your telephones would be doing it and they might interfere with each other and (due to the range of the phones) might not reach the device at all. Also the phones would need to send VOL_DOWN to audio, video and link products. That would take a while... Executing an all_standby is also a bad solution for most costumers. Finally some costumers would dislike that their device was muted - imagine if it was _picture_ mute on a TV showing a soccer game where your team was about to score.. to somebody muting the audio would happen in unwanted situations.

So - no really good solution was found and it was left for the customers to do it manually.

When you put it like that, its makes sense Burnix!

I still feel like this would be a unique feature that they could implement in the future. The way business is going for B&O I think they need to create as many incentives for customers to buy as possible!

    Cheers
