    RX-2 Turntable

    Hello,

    New here and with questions...

I will be getting an RX-2 turntable with a middle of the road cartidge...should have low hours on it...one problem is the common to turntables (that I have seen) RCA connects...I get noise/feedback from them but moving them a bit gets it up and running...

Is there a schematic of this or is it pretty self explanatory to change these out...

Is this an easier fix???...I have no experience soldering...

Lastly...all I have to compare this turntable to (don't have it yet) is two DD Technics turntables...an SL-1300 with Shure V-15 Type III and an SL-D2 with an Audio Technica cartidge...what am I in for soundwise, qualitywise...overall with the B&O???

Thanks for any help you care to share,

    Bill

(I have several choices in electronics to listen to this turntable...Juicy Music BlueBerry and NOSValve VRDs...Nakamichi TA-2A STASIS... Outlaw Audio RR2150...Yamaha Natural Sound CA-610 II)

Are you running a grounding wire?

Yup...I haven't received this TT yet but have tried it at the current owner's place...it is one or both RCA interconnects I believe...

OK. Well then I might suggest getting the table first and plugging it up in your decided setup to confirm that this might be an issue w/ the current owner's setup and not the RX2 at all.

I do have one sitting right next to me, and I can take a closer look, but initially I would suggest replacing both leads and the ground wire at the same time if it is determined that is where the issue lies.

I can confirm that the RX2 manual is onsite for dload to Silver and above members.

    Oh, and welcome to Beoworld!

    Re: RX-2 Turntable

In the interests of full disclosure...I had the SL-D2 in College and it never gave me a problem...I bought the Beogram RX-2 in 1989 when I feared records were going away forever and I still had albums...I listened to it very little...later I gave this to my girlfriend as she wanted a turntable...I recall buying the middle cart and IIRC it was the MMC-3...darned memory...

When I decided I wanted to get back into records at least a bit, I picked up the Technics SL-1300 (much heavier duty table than the SL-D2 which too was gone to my lil brother by then) and it had the Shure V15 Type III...it sounds very nice...but I was never able to do the A/B test...

When she reported this problem, I checked and it seemed as if placeemnt had pinched these connects and the feedback problem cropped up...it is a recurring problem for her so I talked to the little brother who no longer uses the excellent condition SL-D2 with new cart...I plan to get this back...hook her up with this table and then I'll have the RX-2 back...

Until I can make this three way trade out and set up...I was hoping to get some feedback from all of you...I will report to you what I learn when I learn it...

    Thanks,
    Bill

hoping to get a wee bit more B&O feedback...or Technics feedback...suffering from a bit of "Daddy I want an Ooooompa Looompa and I want one NOW!" syndrome...

I do actually have a review of the RX2 by Alvin Gold - his summary - "What we're left with is a capable all rounder that specialises in aesthetics and ease of use without noticeably prejudicing audio performance. There are products that can show the B&O a clean pair of heels when it comes t5o performance, the obvious example being the Dual CS-505 , but none have the granny proof qualities and sleekness of the RX2."

By the way he suggests playing it with the lid open as it extends the bass in his view!
