    Tuning BM7000 with Beo4

Yes, I know this must be a FAQ, and I searched the forum and found the answer.

The thing is that the trick doesn't work with this Beomaster 7000 I have here. I did exactly as described:

    • added V.SETUP to Beo4
    • turned the Beomaster on radio
    • went to another room to click TV on Beo4
    • returned and LISTed to V.SETUP
    • clicked on GO, Beo4 shows TUNE

...and absolutely freaking nothing happens. I can press all the arrows and numbers I want and the Beomaster doesn't react to any of them (and the dot doesn't flash).

Can this be a software version issue or something else? Not a big problem anymore since I will make another trip to set it up, this time with a recharged BL7000, but would still like to know what this means...

    Re: Tuning BM7000 with Beo4

    Is your BM7000 set to A.OPT 2 ?

No, 1. But I changed it to 2 and now the scanning works! Looks like the other threads I found on this lacked that step.

    Thanks Smile

    Re: Tuning BM7000 with Beo4

You`re welcome. If your BM7000 is set to OPT 1 it responds to audio commands . V.SETUP - TUNE is a video command. A.OPT 2 lets your BM respond to audio- AND video commands.

Yes, that makes sense - but I thought (as said in one of the previous threads) that the V.SETUP of Beo4 and GOTO of Beolink 1000 were the same command, and I believe tuning this BM worked with a BL1000 even in option 1. It certainly does with my Beomaster 6500.

I'll check the actual command codes later tonight when I get home...

Makes sense, too. My BM7000 does not respond to V.SETUP - TUNE in OPT1. But it responds to A.SETUP. Same with BL1000. BM7000 (OPT1) does not respond to GOTO in TV mode, but to GOTO in RADIO mode - just tested.

And it is the same with BM6500 - this V.SETUP trick won't work in option 1. Beolink 1000 indeed sends two different GOTO commands in video and audio mode. Beo4 sends the video-GOTO only after you have listed to V.SETUP, clicked on GO (the display changes to TUNE) and then either a digit or diamond-up or diamond-down. From there on it will just send single video commands on each click.

Talk about confusing! Why didn't they just include the GOTO command in the Beo4 LIST repertoire? If you don't have an MCP or a BL7000 at hand, setting up these Beomasters is hardly a B&O moment...

I use a 1000 with my beomaster 7000. Works wonderful.

I do have a beo4 which I never use and is in my drawer for the past 2 years.   I find a BL7000 works like a dream with this system (Though I no longer own one) but certainly not a necessity as most functions are easily handled with the 1000 IMHO.

Well, yeah, a BL1000 is passable for setup and absolutely fine for daily use - but when all you have is a virgin BM7000, a Beo4, and a BL7000 that just ran flat on its battery... Laughing

    Re: Tuning BM7000 with Beo4

With my Beosystem 6500 there was a Beo4 included. I got a Master Control 6500 from Ebay and I allready had a Beolink 1000mk3.

The only thing thats a bit annoying is adjusting sound levels with the Beo4 link bass, treble and loudness. Its more simpel on the Beolink 1000.

Beosystem 6500 is connected via 1611 converter to my AV9000 and both are in option 1. This works well allthough when adding to list it turns of the system.

I did the saving of radio stations with the Master Control which were pretty easy to do.
