Is BeoLab 8000 still atractive speaker today? How is this speaker selling today and how long it will be in production?
BS 1, BeoCom 2, 2x LC 2, Form 2, BS 2, BS 3, 2x Beo 4, BS 5, BM 5, BL 5,Beo 6, BS 6, 2x A8, BV 8-40, BL 8000, 3x A9 Keyring, Serenata, BeoTime, BeoTalk 400
The BeoLab 8000 loudspeakers are one of B&O's most successful and longest-running products. Correct me if I'm wrong but a few weeks ago I read something that B&O has updated their speakers bass reflex some years ago.May be this is an interesting threat for you to read: http://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=802
Yes, Rob you are right, MKII version with bass improvement came up in 2004 I think ....
But, honestly I don't feel much difference between MKI ( which I own ) and MKII ...
when your Black Label begin to taste like juice just take shot or two of Absinthe and after that quench with some vodka, if you still feel juice like take beer with grappa !
To be truthful, they are no longer a groundbreaking design, and they look out of place with current B&O equipment (excluding BS3200, BL6000, BS9000).
I'm glad i didn't buy a pair, i cannot believe that B&O now sell them in white. It looks terrible in my opinion. It's those big black square bases > they should have been updated as aluminium discs (like on the BL1)

I bought a pair last week so they are still selling but in what volumes I don't know.
I have to agree about the colours though - white and gold just don't seem right.

Designwise I think the Beolab 8000 is probably still the best looking speaker ever made, but I agree with Dave that they look somewhat out of place with the latest B&O equipment. Personally I choose Beolab 3's over Beolab 8000's for it's performance.

AFAIK, BL8000 is the best selling speaker in the B&O-range. There are fresher designs, but to my eyes, they still look very young. I bought a pair 2 years ago (black/ black) which is standing next to a BV7-32 with BL7.1, and they look like they were made for each other. So IMO, it is false to consider them as out-dated.

Tom,
You got in very fast with that comment and I have to agree with you. I still think the BL8000 design is a classic. The styling probably does not look so right with some of the latest music systems but they still look great with current B&O TVs. I hope B&O keep making them for many years to come - but not in white which I agree looks terrible - but I guess the decison will be made by the customers. If people stop buying them then B&O will surely stop making them.
