    Beovision 4 panel screen cracked

Hi can anyone tell me what is the best thing to do for  second-hand beovision 4- 50" plasma that I bought recently and unfortunately before it was even put up fell on its back and plasma screen inside is cracked in several places.

It the midst of preparing the walls to take cables etc and to make sure wall bracket was fitted to take the weight of the panel on a stud parition wall I had my panel propped at an  optimum slant with all sorts of blankets etc and where it had been for the last 2 weeks without being disturbed. Just I was taking measurements etc I turned to double check the wall where it was going and the screen was on the floor on its back.

Sick was not the word !!!! I felt my entire beolife slip through my fingers.

Help what can I do? Is it possible to repair? The screen is the first generation 50" screen and is 2004 model not HD. I need to know my options before I call the insurance company in.

    Many thanks

Re: Beovision 4 panel screen cracked

Maybe you can buy a full HD panel for it now ?

I don't know but I thought other people here had done this

http://www.morethanav.co.uk/ are advertising a BV4-65 that also had it's screen replaced for the same reason. So it can be done obviously. Good luck, I hope someone else can help more than me.

The cheapest thing would be to buy a original plasma display (same as the BV 4 uses)

Just change the display and everything is fine Wink

Here are all the available displays listed.

Well spotted Luke!  The worst thing you can do is replace the screen with the same one that went in it.  I heard morethanAV have recently demonstrated a BV4-42 1080p so with a little work and relatively straightforward modifications it can be done but there are issues worth finding out about.

Your screen will be a D8 screen. These are not easily available and B&O would replace it with a D10 screen. Needless to say this is only the screen so you will not be that much better off though it will be an improvement and clearly will be new. Your insurance company should stump up though! The only complication is that the screen has different fixings and so they will take away your frame to drill some different mounting holes in it! (The back, not the front! Laughing )

You should do this via a B&O dealer.

I guess I have to agree with the last post by Peter, but B&O have not offered to replace the screen with a later panel when I have enquired.  The cost was exorbitant but if your insurance company will cover the cost then so be it, another reason to raise premiums!!  Am not entirely sure about the fixings mount issue, clearly there are companies that do this for customers, perhaps it is worth taking some advice.

Re: Beovision 4 panel screen cracked

Non B&O related, but a similar situation, my son-in-law accidentally scratched the screen of his brand new (only a few weeks old) 46" Samsung. The insurance company paid him the full cost of replacement and said he could keep the old one as they didn't want it! He subsequently sold it on ebay and recovered half his initial outlay.

    Happy days!

I broke the screen on my panasonic panel yesterday... I use it with my beosystem 3. I am talking to my insurance company as well and we'll see if they will pay for a new one... I know exactly that sick feeling you were talking about....

In my worst case scenario it's "only" £2500 out the window.... [:'(]
