    well  actually i don't know!:)

Now the beolink 5000 display is temporary broken, but i guess that a 15 years old remote control lack of the functionality of "modern" beo4,and since they have a similar display,i wonder if i can have format, speaker,p in p,clock....as for the beo4!

i also wonder if beolink 5000 display can be repaired...:(

    Re: Beolink 5000 upgrade firmware

The Beolink 5000 and Beo 4 are in fact very different remotes. Their software are incompatible.

The Beolink 5000 is in fact a more advance remote, the screen has 2 rows plus some symbols (AV, LINK), and can display from both side.

Moreover, the Beolink 5000 is a 2-way remote, so it can display a lot more information coming from your equipment.

You can do a lot of things with the Beolink 5000 that seems to only be available on the Beo4.

Colour keys can be emulated by Shift + Up or Down or Left or Right.

    Random: Use Shift + 1

    Repeat: Use Shift + 3

    For Speaker, Use Sound

    For Stand, Format, use Picture

For P and P, also use Picture

    ...

You can still get new one from your dealer, so I suppose it is possible to get parts.

Which remote is best depends on your equipment. If your equipment is 2 way, the Beolink 5000 is way better. If you have a more recent equipment, maybe a Beo 4 is more adapted. You could get a 2nd hand one.

I agree with Phil - remember that a 2 way remote is actually not very useful with a one way system. I actually don't think the 5000 is actually a very good two way remote either - the 7000 is far superior.

well actually my home theatre configuration is a Beosystem3 with Beovision 4-50,...5.1(beolab3,7.1.beolab 2)...so it could be useful?

f------I i couldn't resist,so i opened it Big Smile ...it was very dirty,as you can notice the display has the link broken in the left side..but i suppose this shouldn't bother in the overall functionality of the remote control...and also in the battery link there is oxidation....i fixit it today and i will let you know..

Enjoy for vojeuristic B&O fun Laughing

To be completely honest, no. It can work as a rather difficult to use Beolink 1000 but a beo4 or 5 would be far superior. Still a fun thing to have though! And not as useless as a Beo1!
