Re: Bought Beolab 5 and Beosound 9000

Very jealous, enjoy them!  I'm looking to buy a bigger place to justify buying a pair of BL5's...I won't tell my partner that's part of the reason to move of course :)

If I were to get the Beolab 5's, Id have it in an audiophile 2.1 channel listening room with perfect acoustic dimensions, then placed to the cardas golden cuboid dimensions with all sorts of ugly acoustic absorbers and no furnishings except a small listening chair.

But I guess Im just a crazy audiophile... My Pentas my look beat up, but foam is fresh and sound is just great. My listening room makes frowns on peoples faces, until I turn on the music...

Although we'd notice you weren't a true audiophile as you're using the out-of-the-box mains cables Wink

Because electricity travels for hundreds and thousands of kilometers along a variety of cables, but is completely dependent upon the composition of the final 1.5m of cable. Big Smile

I'm in a room like that now, EYEdROP. It's bliss. Watching and listening to Fray playing with the German Chamber Philharmonic during their recording sessions of Bach. And the BL5s are revealing every nuance he coaxes out of the piano and orchestra.

I'll forgive your amateur mistake - the fuses! Easy to overlook! Stick out tongue

I'm sure there's a market in audiophile windmills, with accumulator batteries, for all-DC systems. Hmmm -- Whistle

    Luke :

We spent all day getting them home yesterday.

Can I just say I love women right now. The wife of the man we bought the speakers from said she didn't like the speakers and made him sell them. In addition he threw in the BS 9000, we got a really good deal :-)

We are enjoying the set up process.  I will post pics soon of the new living room. These speakers are really cool.

So ... I am poor for the next few months.... but have more reason to stay home :-)

It sounds like a dream setup....congratulations! Yes - thumbs up

Don't joke!  Have you ever set up demos of power cables for a customer?  That was an excruciatingly boring morning, no matter how much I may like it, listening to the start of Bizet's l'Arlesienne over and over and over with no discernable difference whatsoever (I fooled the customer a few times to be sure I wasn't mistaken...) made sure I never did another one...

We've moved the speakers out from the wall even more....

    the house is SHAKING.

I can't believe the bass in these things. They blow speakers away twice their size.... and it's not even distorted. You could never test them at this level in the store. It would be totally inappropriate ! AMAZING.

The low end is absolutely earth-shattering. Amazingly dynamic but still tight and defined. You do need a strong floor though, which we unfortunately don't have in the Bath store...

Re: Bought Beolab 5 and Beosound 9000

I once had a demo of Casino Royale on Blu-ray (yep, there's a theme here...) on the BV4-65 with the BL5s, in the Bath store.

In the part where there is a big explosion on the construction site, near the start of the film, the Bath store nearly exploded. People on the street, looking in to the store, wondered if something had exploded in the store, it was that loud. The floor shook and you could feel the vibrations metres away.

That's the power of the BL5s!
