I live in Australia, where the voltage is 240V. I have a Beolab 2000 that is 120V, but I would like to have it running at 240V. Obviously I could use a transformer, but I'd rather have it all internally correct. So bearing that in mind, I have a Beocenter 2200 that is 240V. It's a bit of a basket case, but it does power up.

Ok, I know you're laughing already because I think you know what's coming....

My question is: Can I use the power supply in the Beocenter in the Lab 2000? Could it be a simple matter of just disconnecting the powere supply in each and swapping them over?

Or am I completely nuts in my thinking????

It's not an issue of being crazy, just right or wrong! I'm guessing those two don't match, though. Someone send up the Keith Signal!

I'm pretty sure it will be possible to simply rewire the internal transformer of the BL2000 to run with 240V. It should be a simple case of swapping some jumpers on the input side, although I haven't seen the insides of a BL2000 it is usually possible with most B&O equipment. 

If you cannot use a soldering iron or read a wiring diagram I would get someone who can both to do the work for you to prevent blowing yourself up

i live in perth, personally i would contact the bang & olufsen store in melbourne and find their service centre and ask to have it converted to 240v im sure it would be a case of placing a new transformer in it.

i think that doing it yourself is a recipie for disaster.

The 2200 power supply is so old it is most unlikely to fit either electrically or physically. Don't even bother to look.

Since we do not have the service manual on site, it is impossible to be sure. I would guess either simply move a jumper as in the Ouverture series of audio units or more likely your service agent will need to purchase a replacement power supply pcb and fit it.

Chris, I think you're right

BL2000 transformer has pins to shortcut to adapt for different voltages.

Hope that the attachment thingy works... (umpf, it didn't , will retry: 6'th edit and it runs )

@ jldmelb: But definitely get someone who has the knowledge to change electrics - 120 V hurt as much as 240 V

@ Graham: I DID bother, but you're also correct: It has 2x20V and a separate 15V winding

From some 700 files (yes files, not circuits) I've e*ay'd about 3 years ago

I did get them from a former repair shop that closed down. Beginning with circuits of some 60's TV sets with tubes only (except some germanium diodes) up to electronics from mid of the 2000's. EDIT: Just to clarify: This was about 2,5 tons of paper; guess my station wagon was a little overloaded pulling that trailor

But there also were some very important diagrams like Panasonic fully automatic WC air cleaning spray dispensers

After sorting them I ended up with 10 folders of B&O equipment circuits.

I have scanned the Penta II manuals once and sent them to Lee (or was it even back in my old CC days?) for the member's manual collection (where they still are, I think). But being self-employed I am always in lack of time to scan everything (for everyone else who is that's a well-known fact!).
