BEOLAB 5S IN CONCERT NEXT WEEK - see the story

    Hey, BeoWorlders!

I just got this from Paul Henry Smith, of the Fauxharmonic Orchestra:

    Hey, y'all!
The Boston Globe story just came out:
    http://www.boston.com/ae/music/articles/2009/05/16/using_his_wits_and_wii_he_conducts_an_orchestra/
Note the mention of BeoLab 5 - and the speaker in the photo!

For what it's worth I'm providing some technical consultation on this, and actually loaning speakers for the event.  I'm pretty jazzed by it.  A big part of my dream for these speakers is coming true!
    Best regards,

Certainly a fascinating idea! Anyone live near and going? A review would be nice! The Wii controller sounds amusing - I should send my wife who is addicted to Mario Kart!

The Wii controller thing is actually quite easy to do - I've done it before with my controllers! You need a piece of software called WiiToMidi. After enabling the IAC driver in OS X, you just pair your controller with the software, and you get X/Y as two separate MIDI channels, plus all the buttons. You could control say, pitch with the Y motion, and filter frequency with the X motion (as a simple example).
