    Beovision 8-40

I am interested in buying the new Beovision 8-40 and am wondering if anyone has any strong opinions for or against. It seems very good value for money and also seems to have all the options that the smaller models do not. I have heard however that there are problms with the white cabinet and it may no longer be available. Someone may be able to confirm.

I'd say 'go for it'. I think the picture quality is a slight step up from my BV7-40 MKIII - that's more to do with the 100hz screen that seems to improve movement and camera panning. For £3600, it's good value. However, if you live in the UK, get it soon, as this price will rise to £4000 by June 1st!

Concerning white cabinets, my dealer told me the opposite : he had a very dirty BV8 26" and I asked why... He told me that there was a lot of issues with the original coating, which gets really dirty, very quickly... But he said that now B&O has found a new coating, also with a soft finish, but more robust.

Nice....so I wonder what happens to the original units? Replaced under warranty? Remember when buying in to B&O, you are happy to pay the premium based on tried-and-tested quality assurance.

I have a white bv8 – a 32" since it was released. No problems with it getting dirty whatsoever. How often do you handle it? Hardly ever. Wipes clean really easy also looks great against a white wall.

I prefer the white to the black but my dealer is telling me it will not be available - due to some problem with the cleaning I think. I would be interested to see if anyone has seen a Beovision 8-40 in white in a showroom or has purchasd one.

I've veiwed (and ordered) one today. I was very impressed with the picture and sound quality - far far superior to the BV8-32. I was offered the white cabinet as an option so it should be available. It comes with  beo5 (UK) so it's very good value - for B&O!

I agree. However, I find it bizarre that they give users a free Beo5 for a £3600 TV, but do not with the BV7-40, BV9 or other expensive purchases. If they're going to run such an offer, they should across these TVs, too!

I have seen the BV8 40" and agree with the above comments. The picture is fantastic and the sound has more depth to it than the BV8 26" and 32" simply because it has more space. The purpose built cabinet stand looks great in my opinion, so a really good LCD if you're after a 40". No confirmation of a white model is out yet, but it might remain a possibility that would emerge towards the end of the year if at all in my opinion.

I suspect that it's beeing used to encourage the initial sales of BV8 40 before the end of the financial year.
