    Amp for RL140?

I am wanting to use a pair of RL140's with my Beosystem 3500. I know that the RL140's need a powerful amp to drive them but would the BM3500 do? Its in a bedroom so it won't be played exceedingly loud very long periods. They look so good together. For interest sake what amp was supposed to be used with RL140's when they were released?

    Thanks

According to Beocentral there wasn't really a matching amp for these speakers when released as the Beomaster 8000 had just been discontinued. I suspect the combination will sound fine, remember that for average listing you will be using 2-3W at most so in a bedroom there is no need for a really powerful amp asyou will never go loud enough to need one.

I hope you have a big bedroom, or a very tolerant/understanding wife!

    Thanks Simon!!

Apparently they are too "in your face"  looking for the lounge thats why they have been moved to the bedroom.

The recommended amps when I bought my RL140's way back when was a pair of Beolab 150's (Later to become 200's) as fitted to Beolab Pentas.

Unless your bedroom is massive then I suspect that the 3500 will suffice!

I would end up sleeping in the spare bedroom with the redlines for company!

I'd love to live in a big house where even the spare bedroom was big enough to get a sleeping bag and a pair of RL140's in it!Laughing

Generally speaking, you aren't learning much if your lips are moving.

I set up my BM4500 and a set of Redline 60's in my studio and came to the conclusion it was a bit of overkill.

Now I have a set of Klipsch VB-10's plugged in instead. Still a bit of overkill at least as far as using a BM4500 is concerned.
