Help and advice needed for Beogram CDX 2

Unsure Hi everyone, I have recently sent a Beogram CDX 2 by DHL to a fellow ebay member.

The CDX arrived but now the player will not play a complete track, it stops working with a cracking noise coming from the speakers at around the one minute mark give or take a few seconds, has anyone come across this fault and have a quick fix soloution, else a full refund and a battle with DHL is on the cards, Matt

Check if something is blocking the lasers path. It should be able to move freely through the whole path.

It could be the flex cable running to the swinging laser block. I've seen cases where a couple of the
leads in the cable broke as if the cable had a hard bend right there.
Contact was only present with the cable at certain angles.

Will it play the first minute of any track on a CD or just the first minute of any CD ?

Was it secured for transport ?

Your tech guy could check the flex cable connector, where the flex cable goes to the board. And its solders.

Embarrassed As for the transit screws/fitting, no, it was missing on the player, so I thought it unwise to interfere with it, oh what a mistake I have made !!

I did place a small piece of bubblewrap inside to prevent the swing arm from moving though Embarrassed

Indifferent The Beogram is being returned, so I have listed it on ebay as a spares or repair. even though it does work sort of. I will have a good look at it this weekend and update you, thanks for the advice, Matt
